The Process (Skinny Puppy Album)
''The Process'' is the eighth studio album by Canadian industrial music, industrial band Skinny Puppy. Released by American Recordings (record label), American Recordings on February 27, 1996, ''The Process'' was the band's final album before it reformed in 2000 and released ''The Greater Wrong of the Right'' in 2004. Skinny Puppy's keyboardist, Dwayne Goettel, died near the end of ''The Process'' recording, and the album experienced difficult production and record-label intrusion. Background, recording and concept Nivek Ogre, cEvin Key, and Dwayne Goettel signed a contract with American Recordings, and moved to Malibu, California to record ''The Process''. "Jahya" was the first song recorded for the album, the only song recorded at the band's familiar Mushroom Studios. Recording sessions were punctuated by fires, floods, and the Northridge earthquake. An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78 rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl long-playing (LP) records played at rpm. The Greater Wrong Of The Right
''The Greater Wrong of the Right'' is the ninth studio album by Canadian electro-industrial band Skinny Puppy, released by SPV on May 25, 2004. It is their first full-length record since 1996's '' The Process''. It is also their first album since 1985's ''Bites'' without the support of keyboardist Dwayne Goettel, who died in 1995, and their first album since the departure of producer Dave "Rave" Ogilvie. It was produced by Cevin Key and is Ohgr collaborator Mark Walk's first appearance as an official member of the band. The album's artwork was created by longtime collaborator Steven R. Gilmore. After the difficult recording of ''The Process'', band members Key and Nivek Ogre chose to focus on solo projects before accepting an offer to perform as Skinny Puppy at the Doomsday Festival in 2000. The Process (collective)
The Process was an art and philosophy collective formed in the early 1990s and birthed at the same time as, and with a subset of the same people from, the studio work for the Skinny Puppy album '' The Process''. Early contributors included Nivek Ogre, Genesis P-Orridge, William Morrison, and Loki der Quaeler. The Process collective aimed to connect the international industrial music community via the nascent internet while ostensibly reviving the "deviant psychotherapy cult" Process Church of the Final Judgement. Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (born Neil Andrew Megson; 22 February 1950 – 14 March 2020) was a singer-songwriter, musician, poet, performance artist, visual artist, and occultist who rose to notoriety as the founder of the COUM Transmissions artistic collective and lead vocalist of seminal industrial band Throbbing Gristle. P-Orridge was also a founding member of Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth occult group, and fronted the experimental pop rock band Psychic TV. Born in Manchester, P-Orridge developed an early interest in art, occultism, and the avant-garde while at Solihull School. The Process Church of the Final Judgment, also known as the Process Church, was a British religious group established in 1966 and disestablished in the 1970s. Its founders were the English couple Mary Ann MacLean and Robert de Grimston, who spread the group's practices across parts of the United Kingdom and United States in the late 1960s and early 1970s. While relying heavily on tenets of Christianity, scholars of religion have classified it as a form of Satanism because of its expanded belief system. Roli Mosimann is a drummer, electronic musician and record producer who has worked in genres ranging from industrial to pop. Originally from Switzerland, Mosimann first came to attention with the New York City no wave band Swans and later collaborated with Foetus leader J. G. Thirlwell in the duo Wiseblood. The 1994 Northridge earthquake was a moment 6.7 (), blind thrust earthquake that occurred on January 17, 1994, at 4:30:55 a.m. PST in the San Fernando Valley region of the City of Los Angeles.
