The Passionate Plumber
''The Passionate Plumber'' is a 1932 American pre-Code comedy film directed by Edward Sedgwick, and starring Buster Keaton, Jimmy Durante, and Irene Purcell. The screenplay by Laurence E. Johnson and Ralph Spence is based on the 1926 play ''Dans sa candeur naïve'' by Jacques Deval. It is the second screen adaptation of the play, following the 1928 silent film ''The Cardboard Lover''. It later was remade in 1942 as '' Her Cardboard Lover''. A French-language version was made at the same time, under the title, ''Le plombier amoureux''. The dueling sequence was reworked in two of Keaton's later short subjects, ''She's Oil Mine'' from 1941 and the 1947 ''Un Duel A Mort'' made in France. Plot Paris plumber Elmer Tuttle is enlisted by socialite Patricia Alden to help make her lover Tony Lagorce jealous. With the help of his friend Julius J. Edward Sedgwick (November 7, 1889 – March 7, 1953) was an American film director, writer, actor and producer. Early life He was born in Galveston, Texas, the son of Edward Sedgwick, Sr. and Josephine Walker, both stage actors. At the age of four, young Edward Sedgwick joined his show business family in what was then the Sedgwick Comedy Company, a vaudeville act, doing a "singing speciality". He played child parts and did vaudeville acts until he was seven, when he was given his first comedy part, that of an Irish immigrant, in a comedy written by his father called ''Just Over''. During this time, he was only on stage during the summer months. In winter his father took him back to Galveston and sent him to school. Henry Armetta
Henry Armetta (born Enrico Armetta; July 4, 1888 – October 21, 1945) was an American character actor who appeared in at least 150 American films, beginning in silent movies. His last film was released posthumously in 1946, the year after his death. Biography Armetta was born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. At the age of 14, he stowed away on a boat to America.
