''The Party'' is the eponymous debut album by the band of the same name. It was the first full-length release on Hollywood Records, which was released August 1990. The Party worked with the industry's top writers and producers at the time, such as Stephen Bray, Jellybean Benitez, Andre Cymone, and Deborah Gibson. The album produced two U.S. charting singles: "That's Why" reached #55 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and #52 on ''Cash Box.'' The Party is an American pop music, pop band. The group was originally composed of Albert Fields, Tiffini Hale, Chase Hampton, Deedee Magno Hall, and Damon Pampolina, all of whom were cast members of ''The Mickey Mouse Club#1989-1990s revival, The All-New Mickey Mouse Club (MMC), The All New Mickey Mouse Club'' from 1989 until 1991. In 2013, the group reunited, without Tiffini Hale. History In 1990, the Disney Channel formed a pop band composed of then-current cast members of the 1989-1994 ''Mickey Mouse Club'' (also known as ''MMC''). As part of the promotion for the band, a name-the-band contest was held. The result was "The Party," which is a backronym for "Positive Attitude Reflects Today's Youth." The group was also the first signing to the Walt Disney Company's pop-music-oriented label Hollywood Records, which, at the time, was distributed by Elektra Records. Barry Mann (born Barry Imberman; February 9, 1939) is an American songwriter and musician, and part of a successful songwriting partnership with his wife, Cynthia Weil. He has written or co-written 53 hits in the UK and 98 in the US. Early life Mann was born to a Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York City, United States. He was born two days before fellow songwriter Gerry Goffin. Career His first successful song as a writer was "She Say (Oom Dooby Doom)", a Top 20 chart-scoring song composed for the band The Diamonds in 1959. Mann co-wrote the song with Mike Anthony (Michael Logiudice). Julian Raymond is an American songwriter and music producer. He has worked with various music artists, including Insane Clown Posse, Glen Campbell, Cheap Trick, Jennifer Nettles, Fastball, Albert Lee, Fleetwood Mac, Kottonmouth Kings, among others. Chasen Cord "Chase" Hampton (born January 12, 1975) is an American actor, performer, singer, songwriter, musician, and mentor. Albert Jeunepierre Fields (born March 3, 1975) is an American actor and pop singer. He was a Mousketeer on ''The All New Mickey Mouse Club'' and a member of the pop group The Party. After The Party disbanded, Albert went under the moniker Jeune (which is half of his middle name) and released a solo album in 1995 titled ''Back to Reality''. Thomas F. Kelly (born April 16, 1952) is an American musician, best known for his songwriting partnership with Billy Steinberg. Steinberg and Kelly co-wrote numerous hit songs for popular music artists, including five number-one singles on the ''Billboard'' Top 100 chart in the 1980s. Early life Originally from Indiana, Kelly lived in Effingham, Illinois from 1963 to 1966, before moving back to West Lafayette, Indiana where he graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1967. Cynthia Weil
Cynthia Weil (born October 18, 1940) is an American songwriter who wrote many songs together with her husband Barry Mann. Life and career Weil was born in New York City, and was raised in a Conservative Jewish family. Her father was Morris Weil, a furniture store owner and the son of Lithuanian-Jewish immigrants, and her mother was Dorothy Mendez, who grew up in a Sephardic Jewish family in Brooklyn. Weil trained as an actress and dancer, but soon demonstrated a songwriting ability that led to her collaboration with Barry Mann, whom she married in August 1961. The couple has one daughter, Jenn Mann. Weil became one of the Brill Building songwriters of the 1960s, and one of the most important writers during the emergence of rock and roll. The album features covers and remixes and was intended to keep fans occupied until The Party finished their next album, but the EP took on a life of its own.
