Starting Over (Raspberries Album)
''Starting Over'' is the fourth and final studio album by the 1970s power pop band Raspberries. It peaked at #143 on the ''Billboard'' pop album chart in 1974. The LP generated the #18 ''Billboard'' pop single "Overnight Sensation (Hit Record)," while a second single, "Cruisin' Music", did not chart. This was the first album by the Raspberries to feature songs with profanity. Those songs were “Starting Over”, which featured the word "fucking" once, and the song “Party’s Over”, which featured the word "shit" twice. Background Stylistically, ''Starting Over'' represented a more aggressive arena rock/ hard rock sound than previous albums in a way reminiscent of The Who, which was one of the groups' biggest influences. The album also included softer ballads such as "Rose Coloured Glasses" and "Cry". ''Starting Over'' featured a new line-up with Michael McBride (drums), who had drummed with Carmen and Bryson in their previous band in the late '60s, Cyrus Erie, and Scott McC ...

The Party's Over (Willie Nelson Song)
"The Party's Over" is a song written and recorded by American country music singer Willie Nelson during the mid-1950s. After arriving in Houston, Texas, Nelson was hired to play for the Esquire Ballroom band, where he would be allowed to close the shows singing the song. Guitar instructor and Nelson's friend Paul Buskirk forwarded the song to singer Claude Gray, who recorded the original version of the song, released as "My Party's Over" in 1959. Nelson recorded the song himself in 1966, which was released as a single in February 1967. It reached number twenty-four on ''Billboard's'' Hot Country Singles, and it was included as the title track of Nelson's album. The song was later popularized by former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and ''Monday Night Football'' host Don Meredith, who often sang the first line of the song on the broadcasts when a team established an insurmountable lead. Background In 1956, Nelson moved from Fort Worth, Texas to Portland, Oregon. He soon found a job ...

The Party's Over (Sandra Reemer Song)
The Netherlands was represented by Sandra Reemer, with the song "The Party's Over", at the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 3 April in The Hague, following Teach-In's victory for the Netherlands the previous year. The song was the winner of the Dutch national final for the contest, held on 18 February. This was the second of Reemer's three Eurovision appearances for the Netherlands: she had sung in the 1972 contest in a duo with Dries Holten (Andres), and would also take part in the 1979 contest under the name of Xandra. Prior to the contest, there was controversy when some other national delegations laid accusations that "The Party's Over" plagiarised the 1968 Mary Hopkin hit "Those Were the Days". The allegations of plagiarism were considered and rejected by contest organisers the European Broadcasting Union, who conceded that the songs were very similar in style and structure, but did not find any similarity between the actual melodies. Before Eurovision Na ...

The Party's Over And Other Great Willie Nelson Songs
''The Party's Over and Other Great Willie Nelson Songs'' is the sixth studio album by country singer Willie Nelson. Background By 1967, Nelson had enjoyed immense success as a songwriter, penning “Crazy” for Patsy Cline and “Pretty Paper” for Roy Orbison, but had enjoyed only middling success as a recording artist himself. His most recent album, ''Make Way for Willie Nelson'', had produced the Top 20 single “One In a Row,” but his sales paled in comparison to other country stars like Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash. As he later put it, “For all my songwriting success, my RCA albums languished on the shelves. I was far from what you’d call a superstar. I wasn’t playing concert halls or arenas. I was playing beer joints.” Nelson was becoming increasingly unhappy with RCA, feeling the label did not promote his records enough and kept him around so his stable mates could pillage his poor-selling albums for material. In Nelson's first autobiography Atkins admi ...
