''The P.M.R.C. Can Suck on This'' is an EP by the American punk rock band NOFX. It was originally released in 1987 through Wassail Records with hand-written labels (limited to 500 copies) and was re-released on January 1, 1990, through Fat Wreck Chords. The original version of the EP featured a black-and-white photo montage of Tammy Faye Bakker pegging then-husband (and televangelist) Jim Bakker as its cover, but was eventually changed to a picture of guitarist Eric Melvin playing on stage. The track "Shut Up Already" borrows a riff from the Led Zeppelin song "Living Loving Maid", while the '' Liberal Animation'' version ended with a riff from "Black Dog". All the tracks were compiled on the '' Longest EP'' compilation as tracks 26-30 respectively, where Johnny B. Goode appears at the end of "The Punk Song". NOFX
NOFX () is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. Vocalist/bassist Fat Mike, guitarist Eric Melvin and drummer Erik Sandin are original founding and longest-serving members of the band, who have appeared on every release of the band, although Sandin departed briefly in 1985, only to rejoin the following year. El Hefe joined the band in 1991 to play lead guitar and trumpet, rounding out the current line-up. NOFX's mainstream success coincided with increased interest in punk rock during the 1990s, though, unlike many of their contemporaries (including Bad Religion, Green Day, and The Offspring), they have never been signed to a major label. NOFX has released fifteenth studio albums, sixteen extended plays and a number of seven-inch singles. Eric Melvin
Eric Scott Melvin (born July 9, 1966) is an American musician and founding member of the punk rock band NOFX. Melvin sings backup vocals on most NOFX songs and wrote the guitar riffs for NOFX songs such as the intro for " Leave It Alone". His vocal style is iconically called the "Mel Yell". He is also a founding member of Punk Rock Karaoke with Steve Soto and Greg Hetson, though he rarely performs with them. Melvin is an irregular touring member of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes playing bass when Fat Mike was not available. Personal life Melvin is of Ukrainian and Jewish descent and grew up in Hollywood. In 2016 Melvin married Australian born artist Sarah Melvin and they have identical twin daughters together: Ivy Laine Melvin and Phaedra Rose Melvin, born 21 minutes apart. Erik Sandin
Erik Sandin (born July 29, 1966), is an American musician and the drummer of the punk rock band NOFX, and former member of punk rock band Caustic Cause. He was a founding member of NOFX when they formed in Hollywood, California, in 1983. Two years after forming NOFX, he moved to Santa Barbara, leaving the band. In just one year without Sandin, the band had already gone through two drummers (Scott Sellers and Scott Aldahl) and in 1986 the band talked Sandin into rejoining NOFX. He has been NOFX's permanent drummer since his return in 1986, and played drums on every NOFX full-length album and EP released, including the 2007 live album ''They've Actually Gotten Worse Live!''. The band Dogpiss featured a song about him called "Erik Sandin's Stand In" on the Fat Wreck Chords compilation album ''Short Music for Short People''. Fat Mike
Michael John Burkett (born January 16, 1967), known professionally as Fat Mike, is an American musician and producer. He is the bassist and lead vocalist for the punk rock band NOFX and the bassist for the punk rock supergroup cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Fat Mike started out with his first band False Alarm in 1982. He credits Joe Escalante of the Vandals for introducing him to punk rock when he was 13 at a summer camp. Musical career While attending Beverly Hills High School, Mike began his musical career with the band False Alarm. After the band split up in 1983, he met Eric Melvin and Erik Sandin and formed the original line-up of NOFX. "Dueling Banjos" is a bluegrass composition by Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith. The song was composed in 1954 by Smith as a banjo instrumental he called "Feudin' Banjos," which contained riffs from Smith, recorded in 1955 playing a four-string plectrum banjo and accompanied by five-string bluegrass banjo player Don Reno. The composition's first wide-scale airing was on a 1963 television episode of ''The Andy Griffith Show'' called "Briscoe Declares for Aunt Bee," in which it is played by visiting musical family the Darlings (played by The Dillards, a bluegrass group) along with Griffith himself. The song was made famous by the 1972 film ''Deliverance,'' which also led to a successful lawsuit by the song's composer, as it was used in the film without Smith's permission. Despite the title, it is not actually an EP; it is a compilation of songs from 1987 to 2009, plus rarities, out of print material and previously unreleased outtakes. ''The Longest EP'' has been referred to as a "sequel" to NOFX's 2002 compilation album '' 45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough to Go on Our Other Records''. "Black Dog" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin, the opening track on the band's untitled fourth album (1971). The song was released as a single and reached the charts in several countries; however, as was their practice, it was not issued in the United Kingdom. The song was included in ''Rolling Stone''s (US) "the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" and ranked No. 1 in ''Q'' magazine's (UK) "20 Greatest Guitar Tracks".
