The Operators (band)
The Operators are a British indie rock band. Their songs include "Mountain", "Just My Way" and "It Grinds". History The band formed on the Isle of Wight in 2006 and after coming in second in the Wight Noize Auditions in June, won the opportunity to play at the Isle of Wight Festival. Their debut album 'What You See Is What I Sell' was self-released at the end of 2007 and in April 2008 their song "Pictures of You" won the 'Fresh Meat' competition on the Zane Lowe show, and was played every night that week on BBC Radio One. Isle Of Wight Festival
The Isle of Wight Festival is a British music festival which takes place annually in Newport on the Isle of Wight, England. It was originally a counterculture event held from 1968 to 1970. The 1970 event was by far the largest of these early festivals and the unexpectedly high attendance levels led, in 1971, to Parliament adding a section to the Isle of Wight County Council Act 1971 preventing overnight open-air gatherings of more than 5,000 people on the island without a special licence from the council. The event was revived in 2002. Original festival The original events were promoted and organised by the Foulk brothers (Ron and Ray Foulk) under the banner of their company Fiery Creations Limited and their younger brother Bill Foulk. Alexander Zane Reid Lowe (born 7 August 1973) is a New Zealand radio DJ, live DJ, record producer, and television presenter. After an early career in music creation, production and DJing, he moved to the UK in 1997. Isle Of Wight Festival 2008
The Isle Of Wight Festival 2008 was the seventh revived Isle of Wight Festival held at Seaclose Park in Newport on the Isle Of Wight. The event took place between 13 June – 15 June 2008. Tickets went on sale in December 2007 and were sold out within weeks. This year was the first time that the festival was screened live on TV. After four years of highlights packages being broadcast on Channel 4, this year ITV announced that they had won the rights to broadcast live on ITV2. There were live programmes on each of the three days; starting at 11:00pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and contain mainly highlights of the days performances, along with live coverage of the headliners' sets.
