The Micronauts
The Micronauts are a Paris-based dance music act. They formed when Christophe Monier met Canada-born George Issakidis whilst working at the Parisian music fanzine eDEN. The first release was a 12 inch called "The Jazz." They continued to work throughout the 1990s, developing an acid techno style of their own. This attracted the attention of high-profile artists, such as The Chemical Brothers and Underworld. Indeed, their remix of ''Block Rockin' Beats'' appears on The Chemical Brothers' DJ mix album '' Brothers Gonna Work It Out'' and their remix of Underworld's ''Bruce Lee'' was also widely distributed. At the end of the decade they were signed to the Astralwerks label and soon after released ''The Jag''. One year later, in 2000, they released their debut EP, '' Bleep to Bleep''. Underworld (band)
Underworld are a British electronic music group formed in 1987 in Cardiff, Wales and the principal collaborative project of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith. Prominent former members include Darren Emerson, from 1991 to 2001, and Darren Price, as part of the live band from 2005 to 2016. Mirwais Ahmadzaï
Mirwais Ahmadzaï (born 23 October 1960), known mononymously as Mirwais, is a French electronic dance music record producer and songwriter. Born in Switzerland to an Afghan father and an Italian mother, Ahmadzaï was a member of the defunct 1980s group Taxi Girl. He met Madonna in the late 1990s, when he submitted a demo to her then record label, Maverick Records. Astralwerks is an American record label primarily focused on electronic music owned by Universal Music Group. Its material is distributed via Capitol Music Group in the United States. The label was founded in 1993 and, in its early years, featured prominent British acts like The Future Sound of London, Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers. "Block Rockin' Beats" is a song by British big beat duo the Chemical Brothers. Released in March 1997 as the second single and opening track from their second studio album, ''Dig Your Own Hole'' (1997), it topped the UK Singles Chart and peaked at number 40 on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart. It received a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. Two different edits of "Block Rockin' Beats" exist: the version found on ''Dig Your Own Hole'' has an intro, while the version released as a single begins with the bass line. The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic music duo formed by Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons in Manchester in 1989.
