The Medicine Label
The Medicine Label (sometimes called Medicine for short) was a record label founded in New York City in 1992, originally as a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records. The original purpose of the label was to release "new, cutting-edge music", as Irving Azoff put it. During its initial three years, the label issued early singles by Moby, Leftfield and The Prodigy; as well, The Cramps with their critically acclaimed, alternative radio break through album '' Flamejob''. The label achieved platinum certifications for both the initial soundtrack to '' Dazed and Confused'' and a second volume of songs, ''Even More Dazed and Confused''. The label also reissued some obscure titles from the Warner Bros. catalogue including '' Freeway Madness'' by The Pretty Things. RED Music, stylized RED MUSIC, formerly RED Distribution, LLC (Relativity Entertainment Distribution) was a Sony-owned sales and marketing division that merged under The Orchard in 2017. RED previously handled releases for more than sixty independent record labels. History Founded in 1979 as mainly a hard rock music distributor called Important Record Distributors, which originally distributed Metallica's first two LPs in the US, it became RED Distribution in the 1990s. Green Apple Quick Step, often abbreviated as GAQS, is an American rock band from Seattle. Their sound was described as hard-edged, post-grunge rock. The band began as Inspector Luv and the Ride Me Babys in Tacoma, Washington before becoming Green Apple Quick Step, in Seattle, by 1992. The initial lineup under the new name consisted of lead vocalist Tyler Willman, guitarists Daniel Kempthorne and Steve Ross, singer-bassist Mari Ann Braeden, and drummer Bob 'Mink' Martin. The original lineup recorded and released two records: '' Wonderful Virus'' in 1993 and '' Reloaded'' in 1995. Their third album, ''New Disaster'', was recorded in 1998, with new lineup including Dana Turner on guitar and Dain Hudson on drums was planned for release that year, but remains shelved. Ken Ishii
is a Japanese Disc_jockey, DJ and record producer from Sapporo. He graduated from Hitotsubashi University. He has released work under his own name as well as under the pseudonyms: FLR, Flare, UTU, Yoga, and Rising Sun. Strongly influenced by Detroit techno, Ishii had his first release on Richie Hawtin's label Plus 8. He composed the music for the opening ceremonies to the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Nagano, Nagano. "Creation the State of Art" was used in the third level of the 2001 video game ''Rez (video game), Rez'', and some tracks in the soundtrack release to the game ''LSD (video game), LSD'' were produced by Ishii. His track "Let It All Ride" has also been used in the PlayStation Portable video game ''Lumines II''. Swayzak
Swayzak were a tech house duo from the United Kingdom that consisted of James S. Taylor and David Brown. They released their first 12" single "Bueno" / "Fukumachi" in February 1997 to much acclaim. It was followed up by the 12" "Speedboat" / "Low Rez Skyline" to become part of the burgeoning tech-house scene in the UK. Their debut long player, ''Snowboarding in Argentina'' was released by The Medicine Label (US) and Pagan Records (UK) in May 1998. It garnered many positive reviews. The album was later chosen as 1998 Album of the Year in the U.S. dance publication '' Mixer''. They went on to release four further studio albums. Secret Machines are an American alternative rock band, originally from Dallas, Texas, United States, before moving to New York City. The original lineup consisted of two brothers, Brandon (vocals, bass guitar and keyboards) and Benjamin Curtis (guitar and backing vocals), and Josh Garza (drums). UFOFU
UFOFU was a Rock music, rock band (music), band based in Dallas, Texas. The band consisted of Joseph Butcher (musician), Joseph Butcher, and brothers Brandon Curtis and Benjamin Curtis (musician), Ben Curtis. It rose to local prominence in the mid-1990s through word of mouth and slots opening for other north Texas bands such as Hagfish and Tripping Daisy.
