The Maxx
''The Maxx'' is an American comic book series created by Sam Kieth in 1993 and originally published monthly until 1998 by Image Comics for 35 issues, before being collected in trade paperback by DC Comics' Wildstorm imprint. The first appearance of the character was in ''Darker Image'' #1 by Image Comics in March 1993. The comic book, starring an eponymous purple-skinned hero, spawned a 13-episode animated series on MTV that originally aired April–June 1995. Starting in November 2013 and ending in September 2016, the original series has been republished by IDW as ''The Maxx: Maxximized'' with new colors and improved scans of the original artwork by Sam Kieth and Jim Sinclair. In 2018, the Maxx featured in a five-issue crossover series with Batman, published by IDW. Image Comics
Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. It was founded in 1992 by several high-profile illustrators as a venue for creator-owned properties, in which comics creators could publish material of their own creation without giving up the copyrights to those properties. Olyoptics
Steve Oliff (born February 20, 1954) is an American comic book artist who has worked as a colorist in the comics industry since 1978. Biography Oliff broke into professional comics by attending comic book conventions and meeting people. At one convention he met publisher Byron Preiss. Preiss gave Oliff his first major coloring job (on a Shadowjack story in ''The Illustrated Roger Zelazny''). More work with Preiss's publications followed, including a job on a Howard Chaykin graphic novel, which in turn led to Oliff getting his first Marvel Comics' job, coloring Bill Sienkiewicz's first '' Moon Knight'' story in '' The Hulk!'' magazine. Mister Gone
Mr. Gone is a fictional character, the primary antagonist in ''The Maxx'', a comic book created in 1993 by Sam Kieth and William Messner-Loebs. Character overview Mister Gone is introduced as a serial rapist of young women who has supernatural powers: He is telepathic, can assume other forms, and is effectively immortal. He can also enter and control "the Outback," an alternate dimension that resembles prehistoric Australia. The Isz, the Outback's main predators, serve as his henchmen. The Outback is a remote, vast, sparsely populated area of Australia. The Outback is more remote than the bush. A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Darker Image
''Darker Image'' was an American comic book published by Image Comics. The series was intended as 4-issue miniseries, serving as an introduction to three "grim and gritty" characters. The series, however, only had one published issue, published in March 1993. A gold logo incentive variant as well as the ‘platinum’ (black and white with silver foil logo) version of this issue exists. Each issue when new was polybagged with one of three trading cards, The Maxx, Bloodwulf and Deathblow. In 18th October 2021, a group of fans created a fanzine called ''Darkest Image'', a 200-page anthology series that feature several characters from the Image universe of the 1990s. All profits from the sale are donated to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Wildstorm
Wildstorm Productions, (stylized as WildStorm), is an American comic book imprint. Originally founded as an independent company established by Jim Lee under the name "Aegis Entertainment" and expanded in subsequent years by other creators, Wildstorm became a publishing imprint of DC Comics in 1999. Until it was shut down in 2010, the Wildstorm imprint remained editorially separate from DC Comics, with its main studio located in California.
