''The Marvel Super Heroes'' is an American animated television series starring five comic book superheroes from Marvel Comics. The first TV series based on Marvel characters, it debuted in broadcast syndication, syndication on United States, U.S. television in 1966. Produced by Grantray-Lawrence Animation, headed by Grant Simmons, Ray Patterson, and Robert Lawrence, it was an umbrella series of five segments, each approximately seven minutes long, broadcast on local television stations that aired the show at different times. The series ran initially as a half-hour program made up of three seven-minute segments of a single superhero, separated by a short description of one of the other four heroes. It has also been broadcast as a mixture of various heroes in a half-hour timeslot, and as individual segments as filler or within a children's TV program. Grantray-Lawrence Animation
Grantray-Lawrence Animation was an animation studio active from 1954 to 1968 and founded by Grant Simmons, Ray Patterson (hence "Grant-Ray"), and Robert L. Lawrence. This animation company produced commercials and low-budget animated television shows until it went bankrupt in 1968 and its distributor, Krantz Films, took over production. The best-known of those animated shows are its adaptations of superheroes from Marvel Comics, the earliest such adaptations for electronic media. Jacques "Jack" Urbont is a composer. Urbont is best known for composing the theme songs for ''The Marvel Super Heroes'' cartoon series. Career Urbont composed the music for the off-Broadway shows ''Livin' the Life'', ''All in Love'', and ''Stag Movie''. ''Livin' the Life'' premiered in 1957 and starred Francis Barnard and Alice Ghostley. ''All in Love'' premiered in 1961 and starred David Atkinson and Gaylea Byrne. ''Stag Movie'' premiered in 1971 and starred Hy Anzell and Adrienne Barbeau. Christopher John Wiggins (January 13, 1931 – February 19, 2017) was an English-born Canadian actor. Career He started out as a banker in his home country before he began his acting career in Canada, where he moved in 1952. Wiggins is probably best recognized for his role as Jack Marshak, the benevolent, resourceful expert on the occult in the syndicated television horror show '' Friday the 13th: The Series'', and which ran from 1987 to 1990.
