The Lumiere Brothers Center For Photography
The Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography is a private exhibition organization located in the former chocolate factory and acting art cluster Red October in Moscow. Since its foundation in 2010, the center aims to explore and promote Russian and foreign photography, support emerging Russian artists and explore beyond the medium. A private collection of Natalia and Eduard Litvinsky laid the foundation for the center's collection. Works from the Center's collection were shown at the Fotofest 2012 Biennal, triennial Bergen Assembly in 2013, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, museum and exhibition association Moscow Manege, Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. Elliott Erwitt
Elliott Erwitt (born Elio Romano Erwitt, July 26, 1928) is a French-born American advertising and documentary photographer known for his black and white candid photos of ironic and absurd situations within everyday settings. He has been a member of Magnum Photos since 1953. Early life Erwitt was born in Paris, France, to Jewish-Russian immigrant parents, who soon moved to Italy. In 1939, when he was ten, his family migrated to the United States. He studied photography and filmmaking at Los Angeles City College and the New School for Social Research, finishing his education in 1950. In 1951 he was drafted into the Army, and discharged in 1953. Giovanni Gastel (27 December 1955 – 13 March 2021) was an Italian photographer. Biography Giovanni Gastel began to approach photography in the early 1970s. In 1981, he started working for numerous fashion magazines, including ''Vogue'', ''Elle'', and '' Vanity Fair;'' he also collaborated with world-famous brands such as Dior, Trussardi, Krizia, Tod's, and Versace. During these years of intense professional commitment, he began to develop his personal style, characterized by a poetic irony. Robert Whitman
Robert Whitman (born 1935 in New York City) is an American artist best known for his seminal theater pieces of the early 1960s combining visual and sound images, actors, film, slides, and evocative props in environments of his own making. Since the late 1960s he has worked with new technologies, and his most recent work incorporates cellphones. Arno Rafael Minkkinen (born 4 June 1945) is a Finnish-American photographer who works in the United States. Published and exhibited worldwide, Minkkinen's work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Finnish Museum of Photography. Douglas Kirkland
Douglas Morley Kirkland (August 16, 1934 – October 2, 2022) was a Canadian-born American photographer. He was noted for his photographs of celebrities, especially the ones he took of Marilyn Monroe several months before her death. Early life Kirkland was born in Toronto on August 16, 1934. He was raised in nearby Fort Erie, where his father managed a small store that sold suits. He later recounted how he developed his penchant for photography while perusing the ''Life'' magazines his father brought back from his store. Miles Aldridge (born 29 September 1964) is a British fashion photographer and artist. Early life Born in North London to graphic designer Alan Aldridge, Miles grew up accustomed to celebrity – John Lennon was a family friend, as well as Eric Clapton and Elton John. Sheila Metzner
Sheila Metzner (born 1939) is an American photographer. She was the first female photographer to collaborate with ''Vogue'' magazine on an ongoing basis. Metzner lives in Brooklyn, New York. Early life Metzner graduated from the High School of Art and Design and the Faculty of Visual Communications of the Pratt Institute. In the 1960s, she became the first woman to be promoted to art director by Doyle Dane Bernbach, an advertising agency. Harry James Benson CBE (born 2 December 1929) is a Scottish photographer. His photographs of celebrities have been published in magazines. He has published several books and won a number of prominent awards. Life and work Benson was born in Glasgow and raised in Troon, Scotland. Sabine Weiss ( Weber; 23 January 1924 – 28 December 2021) was a Swiss-French photographer active in the French humanist photography movement, along with Robert Doisneau, Willy Ronis, Édouard Boubat, and Izis.
