The Lewis Blue
''The Lewis Blue'' is an album by Scottish Celtic musicians Ivan Drever and Duncan Chisholm, released in 1998. At the time, both musicians were members of Wolfstone (though Drever left shortly after ''The Lewis Blues release). The album was released around the same time as the controversial album release ''This Strange Place'', which was essentially an Ivan Drever piece with certain members of Wolfstone, but after a short period of time in 1998, it was marketed as a Wolfstone album. At the time, many fans noted that ''The Lewis Blue'' was "the Wolfstone album of 1998, not ''This Strange Place". Duncan Chisholm
Duncan Chisholm (born 31 October 1968) is a Scottish fiddle player and composer. He has released six solo albums as a solo artist. His studio album, '' Affric'', released in 2012, was longlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award. In 2018, he released a sixth studio album, titled ''Sandwood''. He tours with the Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis' band. He is also a founder member of the folk rock group Wolfstone. He played fiddle for Runrig. Ivan Drever
Ivan Drever is a Scottish folk singer, songwriter and guitarist. He often tours with fiddler Duncan Chisholm who founded the Celtic rock band Wolfstone which Drever joined in 1990 but left in later years. Drever has mixed traditional folk with some rock and roll sounds. Life Drever spent his childhood as one of ten children on Sanday, one of the islands of Orkney in Scotland. Interest in music was clear from a young age with Drever winning youth talent shows at 12. He enjoyed country music and Jim Reeves. In 1974 he founded the band 'Knowe O'Deil' and stayed until the late 1980s. In the 1990s Drever moved to Easter Ross and joined Wolfstone. Drever spent many years in the Scottish town of Inverness which inspired many songs. His album 'Waterfront' is named after a favourite bar and restaurant there. Celtic Fusion
Celtic fusion is an umbrella term for any modern music which incorporates influences considered "Celtic", or Celtic music which incorporates modern music. Iona Records
Iona was a Scottish independent record label from 1978 to 1990. History The label was founded by the band Scottish folk band Ossian to publish their second album St. Kilda Wedding. The label continued to publish Ossian output as well as solo and other additional projects from the band members. In 1985, Iona published The Wellpark Suite by Billy Jackson which was commission by Tennents Lager for its centenary celebrations. The label was acquired in 1990 by Lismor Recordings. Iona published 13 original titles prior to 1990 which were expanded over the years to 74 before ceasing new productions and moving the complete catalogue into the new digital world. Scottish People
The Scots ( sco, Scots Fowk; gd, Albannaich) are an ethnic group and nation native to Scotland. Historically, they emerged in the early Middle Ages from an amalgamation of two Celtic-speaking peoples, the Picts and Gaels, who founded the Kingdom of Scotland (or ''Alba'') in the 9th century. In the following two centuries, the Celtic-speaking Cumbrians of Strathclyde and the Germanic-speaking Angles of north Northumbria became part of Scotland. Wolfstone
Wolfstone are a Scottish musical group founded in 1989, who play Celtic rock. Their repertoire consists of both original songs and traditional folk pieces. They have released seven studio albums, the latest, '' Terra Firma'', in 2007. The band record on their own label, Once Bitten Records. The group are named after the "Wolfstone", a Pictish stone originally sited at Ardross, Easter Ross, close to where the band initially recorded. History Formation (1989–1991) The roots of Wolfstone go back to when fiddler Duncan Chisholm met guitarist Stuart Eaglesham at a pub session. An idea becoming realised, Stuart's brother and keyboard player, Struan Eaglesham, was offered a place in the line-up, as was piper Allan Wilson from Bonar Bridge. This Strange Place
''This Strange Place'' is a project album featuring members of Celtic rock band Wolfstone. Originally released in 1997 under the name and artist credit of '' Drever-Mackenzie'', it was soon erroneously reissued as a Wolfstone recording with the new title ''This Strange Place'', perhaps, it has been suggested, as a contract filler. Background Wolfstone's ''The Half Tail'' was released in 1996 to success. Following this, Ivan Drever worked on a side-project involving some of Wolfstone's line-up, but primarily with bassist Wayne Mackenzie. The project, entitled "This Strange Place", resulted in a ten-track album recorded for Green Linnet records. Green Linnet, however, ultimately released the album as a Wolfstone recording, and so the band's popularity waned as fans were led to believe that Drever's mellow style was the new direction Wolfstone were taking.
