''The Left Banke Too'' is the second studio album by American baroque pop band The Left Banke, released by Smash Records in 1968. It would be the final album of the band's initial lifespan, with their next album not appearing until 1986. Background In between the release of the Left Banke's debut album '' Walk Away Renee/Pretty Ballerina'' and the making of this album, the original five-piece band had been whittled down to a trio after the departures of songwriter and keyboardist Michael Brown and guitarist Rick Brand. To replace them, the band brought in guitarist Tom Feher, who had written songs with Brown for the group's first album. Half of the album, consisted tracks that had been issued as singles in the period since the release of the band's debut album in February 1967. Carmelo Esteban "Steve" Martin Caro (October 12, 1948 – January 14, 2020), originally known as Steve Martin, was an American rock musician. He is best known as the original lead singer of the 1960s baroque pop band The Left Banke. The son of flamenco guitarist and vocalist Sarita Heredia, he added his family surname, Caro, in the 1980s to avoid confusion with the comedian of the same name. Early years Steve Martin Caro was born in Madrid, Spain, on October 12, 1948. His mother was Sarita Heredia, the only female flamenco guitarist in the world during the 1950s and 1960s. Thomas Joseph Finn (November 21, 1948 – June 27, 2020) was an American musician and DJ. He was a founding member of the 1960s baroque pop group The Left Banke, on bass and vocals. Early career Finn was a founder member of The Left Banke in 1965, alongside Michael Brown, Steve Martin, George Cameron and Warren David-Schierhorst. After initial success with the songs "Walk Away Renée" and "Pretty Ballerina", the group split up, though Finn was involved in later reformations of the band. Later career After the Left Banke disbanded, Finn went on to become an engineer at Bell Sound Studios, as well as working with jazz drummer Buddy Rich at Rich's night club Buddy's Place as stage manager and MC. Robert Eric Irwin (born 8 June 1939) is an Australian naturalist, animal conservationist, former zookeeper, and a herpetologist known for his conservation and husbandry work with apex predators and reptiles. He is the founder of the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park (now known as Australia Zoo). His son was the conservationist and well-known international television personality Steve Irwin. Sundazed Music is an American independent record label based in Coxsackie, New York. It specializes in obscure and rare recordings from the 1950s to the 1970s. In 2000, Sundazed had a staff of 15 and two mixing studios, including a vintage audio equipment collection. History Label founders Bob Irwin and his wife Mary started the label in 1989. Irwin's skill at restoring old vinyl records for the (then new) CD format, attracted the attention of major labels, who increasingly solicited him to help them re-issue material from their back catalogs.
