''The Knocks 1992–2000'' is a greatest hits compilation by American rapper Jay Tee. It was released February 13, 2001 on Jay Tee's own label, 40 Ounce Records. The songs are culled from the N2Deep and Latino Velvet music catalogs. Two of the songs, "California Hot Tubs" and "What You Do", were newly remixed for this compilation. The album features guest performances by E-40, Mac Dre, Baby Beesh, B-Legit, Levitti, Taydatay, Don Cisco and Frost. It features production by Johnny Z, Ken Franklin, Lev Berlak, Philly Blunt and Jay Tee. Jay Tee
James Trujillo, better known by his stage name Jay Tee, is a rapper, songwriter and hip hop producer from Vallejo, CA. He has been a part of the city's scene since the early 1990s as the lead member of N2Deep and Latino Velvet along with Baby Beesh. Even though N2Deep's 2000 album '' Slightly Pimpish/Mostly Doggish'' was a solo album, it was not until 2001 that Jay Tee released a solo album under his own name, '' So Cold''. Latino Velvet was originally composed of Jay Tee and Baby Beesh in 1997 on the album '' Latino Velvet Project''. Although the album featured several tracks with Frost and Don Cisco, it was not until 2000 that they were featured on the cover with equal billing to Jay Tee and Baby Beesh. The Mossie was an American rap group from Vallejo, California, with members: Kaveo, Mugzi and Tap Dat Ass. They first appeared together on E-40's 1993 EP, '' The Mail Man''. Ronald Fields (January 11, 1968 – September 4, 2001), better known by his stage name Cougnut, was an American rapper from the Lakeview neighborhood of San Francisco, California. Biography As frontman of rap group Ill Mannered Posse (I.M.P), and later as solo artist, Fields was known for his dark raspy voice and street credibility. His best known release as a member of I.M.P. is probably the 1996 album ''Ill Mannered Playas'', which was released through In-A-Minute Records. Often requested for compilations and features, Fields was one of the most prominent rappers in the Bay Area in his prime (from 1993 until his death in 2001). Notable artists Fields worked with JT The Bigga Figga, Master P, Andre Nickatina, Da'unda'dogg, Sean T, and RBL Posse. Mac Shawn
Funk Mobb was an American, short lived rap group composed of Bay Area rappers, K-1, G-Note and Mac Shawn who were signed by Sick Wid It and Jive Records. They were only active from 1994 to 1998, first appearing on Little Bruce's debut album, XXXtra Mannish and then releasing their one and only album in 1996, ''It Ain't 4 Play''. It peaked at number 46 on the ''Billboard'' Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and at number 28 on the ''Billboard'' Top Heatseekers. After the album the group would disband with Mac Shawn releasing two albums, 1997's ''Music fo' the Mobb'' and 2001's ''Worldwide Bosses and Playas'' and even joining Death Row Records for a short while. Although this album was released under the artist name N2Deep, ''The Rumble'' can actually be considered a Jay Tee solo album as N2Deep, TL only participates on one track, "1st We Drink Then We Smoke". Roger Troutman
Roger Troutman (November 29, 1951 – April 25, 1999), also known as Roger, was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist and the founder of the band Zapp who helped spearhead the funk movement and heavily influenced West Coast hip hop due to the scene's heavy sampling of his music over the years. Troutman was well known for his use of the talk box, a device that is connected to an instrument (frequently a keyboard, but most commonly a guitar) to create different vocal effects. Roger used a custom-made talkbox—the Electro Harmonix "Golden Throat"—through a Moog Minimoog and later in his career a Yamaha DX100 FM synthesizer. Marcellus James McCarver, better known by his stage name Celly Cel, is an American rapper from Vallejo, California. He released his first single, "Lifestyle of a Mack", on his independent record label Realside Records in 1992. He released his debut studio album, ''Heat 4 Yo Azz'', in 1994, and released a second album, '' Killa Kali'', two years later. In 1996, he appeared on the Red Hot Organization's compilation CD, America is Dying Slowly, alongside Biz Markie, Wu-Tang Clan, and Fat Joe, among many other prominent hip hop artists.
