The Jezabels
The Jezabels are an Australian indie rock band formed in Sydney in 2007. The band consists of lead vocalist Hayley Mary (born Hayley Frances McGlone), lead guitarist Sam Lockwood, pianist and keyboardist Heather Shannon, and drummer and percussionist Nik Kaloper. From 2009 to 2010, the group released three EPs, '' The Man Is Dead'', ''She's So Hard'', and ''Dark Storm'' — all produced and engineered by Lachlan Mitchell (record producer), Lachlan Mitchell. Two of their releases have reached the ARIA Singles Chart Top 40: the ''Dark Storm'' EP (October 2010) and their single "Endless Summer" (August 2011). They released their debut studio album, ''Prisoner'', on 16 September 2011. It peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and won Best Independent Release at the ARIA Music Awards of 2012. Falls Festival
Falls Music & Arts Festival (commonly known as Falls) is a multi-day music festival held annually in Lorne (Victoria), Marion Bay (Tasmania), Byron Bay (New South Wales) and Fremantle (Western Australia), Australia over the New Year's Eve and January period. The festival hosts contemporary music performances, dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and other art forms. Camping is available and all locations have nearby beaches which are either walking distance or a short bus ride away. Artists playing at the festival include rock, hip hop, indie music, electronic music, blues and roots. The Falls festival in Byron Bay features a rave party hidden behind a washing machine in a laundromat. ''The Brink'' is the second studio album by Australian indie rock band The Jezabels. It was self-released on 31 January 2014 and internationally, through PIAS Recordings and Dine Alone Records. The album was recorded in London with producer Dan Grech-Marguerat. Lead single "The End" was released on 18 October 2013, with its music video uploaded on the group's official YouTube channel on 14 November. The track reached number 81 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart. The album debuted at number 2 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart. It received generally mixed reviews from critics. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population.
