''The Jacksons Story'' is a greatest hits album initially released on Hip-O Select/UTV Records on July 20, 2004 and later re-released on August 28, 2007. It covers 14 years of hit singles scored by the American R&B family group The Jackson 5/The Jacksons between 1969 and 1983. It includes the quintet's early years as the princes of Motown during the late 1960s and early 1970s and their disco innovations in the mid-1970s while still at Motown (1974), along with their later funk/disco period while recording for CBS Records and its two divisions: Philadelphia International (1976–1977) and Epic (1978–1981) during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Jackson 5
The Jackson 5 (sometimes stylized as the Jackson 5ive, also known as the Jacksons) are an American pop band composed of members of the Jackson family. The group was founded in 1964 in Gary, Indiana, and for most of their career consisted of brothers Jackie Jackson, Jackie, Tito Jackson, Tito, Jermaine Jackson, Jermaine, Marlon Jackson, Marlon and Michael Jackson, Michael. They were managed by their father Joe Jackson (manager), Joe Jackson. The group were among the first African Americans, African American performers to attain a crossover following. "ABC" is a song by the Jackson 5. It was released as a single on February 24, 1970. The song knocked the Beatles' "Let It Be" off the top of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1970, and was No. 1 on the soul singles chart for four weeks. It is the title track to the group's second album. "ABC" was performed on television on ''American Bandstand'' (February 21, 1970), ''The Ed Sullivan Show'' (May 10, 1970), and ''The Flip Wilson Show'' (November 4, 1971), among many other broadcasts. Alphonzo Mizell
The Mizell Brothers were an American record producing team in the 1970s, consisting of Larry Mizell (born February 17, 1944) and Alphonso "Fonce" Mizell (January 15, 1943 – July 5, 2011). They worked together on a string of jazz or R&B albums. History Larry earned a degree in engineering and Fonce Mizell earned a degree in music from Howard University. While there they formed and performed in a jazz vocal quartet, the Vanlords. In the early 1970s, Larry and Fonce Mizell moved to California to start their own company, Sky High Productions. They went on to produce albums for Blue Note Records that set the tone for jazz fusion and the era. Frederick James Perren (May 15, 1943 – December 16, 2004) was an American songwriter, record producer, arranger, and orchestra conductor. He co-wrote and co-produced songs including "Boogie Fever" by the Sylvers, "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, and "Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches & Herb.
