The Illuminati Quiz
The Illuminati Quiz is an annual Indian quiz contest that began on 8 December 2008; the students of the Model Engineering College (MEC) organized this south India level quiz competition as a tribute and a memorial to Sandeep Menon (1984-2008). In 2004 "The Illuminatus", or Menon, as he was commonly called, started the community called "The Illuminati", whose aim is to promote and continue the quizzing tradition both within college and with the extended community. It has conducted over 120 intra- and inter- collegiate quizzes to date. In addition, three annual versions of The Illuminati Quiz have been conducted at a South India level. The quiz consists of an online quizzing competition and a preliminary written round in which six qualifying teams make it to the final round. Model Engineering College
Model Engineering College or MEC is a government controlled self financing engineering college established by the IHRD, located in Thrikkakara in the South Indian state of Kerala. The college was established in 1989 and it is affiliated with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. History The college was established in 1989 by the IHRD at the premises of Edapally High School. Professor Sukulal was the first principal of the institution. The college shifted to the current campus at Thrikkakara in 1994. The college is also the first institution in Kerala to be affiliated to the Cochin University of Science and Technology. ''The New Indian Express'' is an Indian English-language broadsheet daily newspaper published by the Chennai-based Express Publications. It was founded in 1932 as ''The Indian Express'', under the ownership of Chennai-based P. Varadarajulu Naidu. Moheschunder Bannerjee (Bengali: মহেশচন্দ্র বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, fl. 1850) or Mahesh Chandra Banerjee was a strong chess player from Bengal, many hundred of whose games survive through the writings of John Cochrane, who regularly played Bannerjee between 1848 and 1860, during Cochrane's tenure at the Calcutta bar. His first name is sometimes misspelled Mohishunder, though Mahescandra is a variant. Moheshchunder, also known as "the Brahmin", was a player from the mofussil or suburbs of Calcutta.
