''The Hunchback of Soho'' (german: Der Bucklige von Soho) is a 1966 West German crime film directed by Alfred Vohrer and starring Günther Stoll, Pinkas Braun and Monika Peitsch.Bock & Bergfelder p. 253 It was part of Rialto Film's long-running group of Edgar Wallace adaptations, and was the first in the series to be shot in Eastmancolor. It was made at the Spandau Studios and on location in Berlin and London. Plot Scotland Yard investigate a series of murders at a castle which is now being used as a girls school. Alfred Vohrer (29 December 1914 – 3 February 1986) was a German film director and actor. He directed 48 films between 1958 and 1984. His 1969 film '' Seven Days Grace'' was entered into the 6th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1972 film ''Tears of Blood'' was entered into the 8th Moscow International Film Festival. Hubert "Hubsi" von Meyerinck (23 August 1896 – 13 May 1971) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 280 films between 1921 and 1970. Biography Meyerinck was born in Potsdam, Brandenburg, the son of Friedrich von Meyerinck (1858–1928), Hauptmann (Captain) in the Prussian Army. He grew up at his family's estates in the Province of Posen and attended the gymnasium secondary school in Godeberg. Having passed his Abitur exams, he was called up for military service as a cadet in World War I, but soon was dismissed due to a pulmonary disease. In 1917 he gave his debut as a theatre actor at the Schauspielhaus in Berlin and from 1918 to 1920 continued his career at the Hamburg Kammerspiele. Gisela Uhlen (16 May 1919 – 16 January 2007) was a German film actress and occasional screen writer. Biography Uhlen was born Gisela Friedlinde Schreck (German national library entry) in Leipzig, Germany as fourth child of Luise Frieda and distillery owner and former opera singer Augustin Schreck. At the Leipziger Konservatorium she enrolled in a modern dance class, and learnt classical ballet and acrobatics at the opera school. Siegfried Schürenberg (12 January 1900 – 31 August 1993) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 80 films between 1933 and 1974. He was born in Detmold, Germany and died in Berlin, Germany in 1993, at age 93. Although he never played leading roles, he was a well-known supporting actor who played the role of Sir John in numerous Edgar Wallace films during the 1960s.
