The Hit Factory is a recording studio in New York City owned and operated by Troy Germano. History On March 6, 1975, Edward Germano, a singer, record producer, and one of the principal owners of the Record Plant Studios New York, purchased the Hit Factory from Jerry Ragavoy. At that time the Hit Factory studios were located at 353 West 48th Street and consisted of two studios, A2 and A6. Eventually, a third studio, A5, was added. These studios were active from 1975 to 1981. Germano incorporated the Hit Factory into a business, redesigned its studios, and created the logo it uses to this day. ''The Hit Factory Volume 2'' is a compilation album released in November 1988 by Fanfare Records and PWL Records. It was an album featuring hits produced by British production trio Stock Aitken Waterman who were at their peak at the time of the album's release. The first compilation '' The Hit Factory: The Best of Stock Aitken Waterman'' was issued by Stylus in 1987. The range of tracks included four special 12" remixes, exclusive to the set, and also a previously unavailable track by an American group called Sequal. The album gained a platinum BPI Award and reached #16 in the UK Top 100 Album Chart. When compilation albums were excluded from the main chart on January 14, 1989, the album crossed to the new chart for the remainder of its run. ''The Hit Factory Volume 2'' was also released in Japan by PWL in association with Alfa Records. Although the albums share the same name, they have an entirely different track listing. ''The Hit Factory Volume 3'' is a compilation album collecting the biggest hits of the award-winning British music production trio Stock Aitken Waterman during their most successful era. It was released by PWL Records in association with Fanfare Records in June 1989 and reached #3 in the compilation Top 20, achieving a Gold BPI award. Some critics highlighted the negative aspects of the release: it contained 2 B Sides ("Made in Heaven" and "Wrap My Arms Around You"), 5 cover versions ("Turn It Into Love", "Help!", "I Only Wanna Be With You", "I Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet" and " Ferry 'Cross the Mersey"), a major flop ("S.S. Paparazzi") and the remaining 3 tracks were considered weak songs ("Take Me To Your Heart", "I'd Rather Jack" and "He Ain't No Competition") although they all reached the UK Top 10.
