The Hit (Irish TV Series)
The Hit is an Irish talent show series that began airing on 26 July 2013 on RTÉ One and sees songwriters showcasing their songs to established artists. The artists then battle one another to find the perfect song they can turn into a hit. It was hosted by Aidan Power and Nicky Byrne. A pilot episode was aired in September 2012 on RTÉ Two hosted by Laura Whitmore. On 15 March 2013, RTÉ announced that the show had been ordered for a full series to be broadcast in the summer. On 30 August 2013, Finbar Furey was announced the winner of the series, with the song "The Last Great Love Song". Gerry Fleming, the song's songwriter, won the €20,000 prize. The show wasn't as successful as ''The Voice of Ireland'' and was cancelled after one series. The Stunning
The Stunning are an Irish rock band. Formed in 1987 in Galway, they are perhaps best known for their singles " Brewing Up a Storm", "Romeo's on Fire", "Half Past Two", "Heads Are Gonna Roll". Known for their strong live performances, they maintain a large following across Ireland. History 1987–1994 The group was formed in 1987 by Steve Wall. The band played its first show in the Hilltop Hotel, Salthill, Galway. The original line-up also included Donal Duggan (saxophone), Ronan Kavanagh (keyboards) and Paddy Schutte (trombone), the latter three all leaving after the first couple of years to pursue other careers. RTL 5 is a Dutch free-to-cable television channel that was launched on 2 October 1993. Mundy
Edmond Enright (born 19 May 1975), known professionally as Mundy, is an Irish singer-songwriter and founder of the independent record label Camcor Records. Biography He released his debut album ''Jelly Legs'' in 1996 on the Epic Records label. The album included the song "To You I Bestow", which was featured on the best-selling soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation ''Romeo + Juliet''. In 2000, Mundy was dropped by Epic while working on his second album, ''The Moon is a Bullethole'', which was about to be recorded. Although a four-track EP of that title was released, much of the material for the cancelled album was eventually incorporated into ''24 Star Hotel'', Mundy's 2002 album. Republic Of Loose
Republic of Loose were an Irish funk rock band from Dublin. Formed in 2001, the band formerly consisted of lead vocalist Mick Pyro, bass guitarist and vocalist Benjamin Loose, keyboardist Deco, guitarists and vocalists Dave Pyro and Brez and drummer and percussionist Coz Noelen. Duke Special (born Peter Wilson; 4 January 1971) is a songwriter and performer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A piano-based songwriter with a romantic style and a warm, distinctly accented voice, he was previously known for his distinctive long dreadlocks, eyeliner and outfits he describes as "hobo chic". Seán Patrick Michael Sherrard (born 13 May 1954), better known by his stage name Johnny Logan, is an Irish singer and composer. He is known as being the only performer to have won the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 1980 and 1987. He also composed the winning song in 1992. Ryan O'Shaughnessy (born 27 September 1992) is an Irish singer and former actor from Loughshinny, Skerries, Dublin.
