The Highlands is a city in Reno County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 349. It is located north of the city of Hutchinson. History The Highlands was incorporated from 21 subdivisions surrounding the Crazy Horse Golf Club in 2017, in order to provide tax dollars for deteriorating roads. The Highlands was the first new city in Reno County to be incorporated in 65 years since the incorporation of Willowbrook. Highland is a city in Doniphan County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 903. It is home to Highland Community College. History Short Summary The Highland Township was started with the founding of the Iowa and Sac & Fox Mission State Historic Site by Reverend Samuel Irvin and Reverend William Hamilton in 1837. The mission was sponsored and funded by the Presbyterians. The Founders plan behind the town was to make it an educational town and in 1857 when the town was laid out a spot was chosen for the future university. Samuel Irvin established the first Highland Community College Building Irvin Hall with the building being built in 1858. Area code 620 covers telephone exchanges in most of southern Kansas. It was created as the result of a split from 316 on February 3, 2001. The area code stretches across the southern half of the state, from the Colorado border in the west to the Missouri border in the east.
