The Ghost Patrol
''The Ghost Patrol'' is a 1923 American silent romantic melodrama film directed by Nat Ross from a short story by Sinclair Lewis, produced and distributed by Universal Pictures. It starred Ralph Graves and Bessie Love and is now considered lost. The film is a member of the Universal-produced and Carl Laemmle-selected "The Laemmle Nine", which also includes ''A Dangerous Game'', '' The Flaming Hour'', ''Kindled Courage'', ''The Scarlet Car'', ''The Power of a Lie'', ''The First Degree'', ''The Love Letter'', and ''The Gentleman from America''. Nat Ross
Nat Ross (June 13, 1902 – February 24, 1941) was an American film director and producer of the silent film, silent era. He directed more than 60 films between 1922 and 1931, and produced films until 1937. He was born in San Francisco, California. He was shot dead in Los Angeles in 1941 by a disgruntled employee whom Ross had fired from the plant where Ross was working as foreman. He was the nephew of producer Carl Laemmle. Max Davidson
Max Davidson (May 23, 1875 – September 4, 1950) was a German-American film actor known for his comedic Jewish persona during the silent film era. With a career spanning over thirty years, Davidson appeared in over 180 films. Career Born in Berlin to Jewish parents, Davidson emigrated to the United States in the 1890s where he began working in stock theater and vaudeville. He entered silent movies in 1912. He made a series of films featuring the character Izzy for Reliance Pictures Company in 1914. Million Dollar Theater
The Million Dollar Theatre at 307 S. Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles is one of the first movie palaces built in the United States. It opened in 1917 with the premiere of William S. Hart's '' The Silent Man''. It's the northernmost of the collection of historical movie palaces in the Broadway Theater District and stands directly across from the landmark Bradbury Building. The theater is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. History The Million Dollar was the first movie house built by entrepreneur Sid Grauman in 1918 as the first grand cinema palace in L.A. Edith Roberts (actress)
Edith Roberts ( – August 20, 1935) was an American silent film actress from New York City. Career Born in New York City, Roberts was a child actress. Roberts performed in vaudeville before she went to Hollywood in 1916. Among her more than 150 screen credits are roles in '' Seven Keys to Baldpate'' (1925), ''Big Brother'' (1923), ''The Wagon Master'' (1929), ''The Mystery Club'' (1926), and ''Two O'Clock in the Morning'' (1929). In 1927, Roberts spent four months in Australia and the Fiji Islands as a co-star of a film for Australasian Film Company, Ltd. She also starred in films for Universal. In 1920, she completed work on ''White Youth'' and signed a long-term contract with Universal. Roberts's final film appearance was in ''The Adorable Savage'' (1933). John Cossar
John Hay Cossar (2 January 1858 – 28 April 1935) was an English actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 140 films between 1914 and 1929. Biography Cossar was born in London, England. He was the fifth child of Walter Cossar and his wife Kate Lyster. Walter was in the Royal Marines between 1835 and 1863. In 1865 the family travelled to Canada and thence to Chicago, Illinois in the USA where John's older brother Walter Lyster Cossar later became City Editor of the Chicago Evening Journal. In 1896, John married Fanny Cohen in Chicago. Fanny was also an actress and the 1930 census of Los Angeles shows them living with two children, Phyllis and Raymond. He died in Hollywood, California, in 1935. Gordon Sackville (born 1880 - August 6, 1926) was a film actor. Earlier in his career he appeared on stage. He was part of several Hobart Bosworth productions.
