Suffrage, political franchise, or simply franchise, is the right to vote in representative democracy, public, political elections and referendums (although the term is sometimes used for any right to vote). In some languages, and occasionally in English, the right to vote is called active suffrage, as distinct from passive suffrage, which is the right to stand for election. The Franchise was a Washington, D.C.-based rock band. Their music was described as "geek rock", delving into the harrowing world of pet monitoring devices, comic books, and Middle Eastern food. Influences include what used to be called “college rock,” alternative rock, and New Wave—things along the lines of Talking Heads, R.E.M., They Might Be Giants, U2, The Cure, XTC, Cake, early The Police. Patrick Nolan played drums in the jazz band ''Kurds and Whey'' from 1991–1993, and then released a solo album, ''Gone Astray'' in 2003. ''The Franchise'' is a 1983 novel written by former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver/tight end Peter Gent. The book follows a cynical college football quarterback's rise to superstardom in the professional ranks with a corrupt expansion team, whom he leads to a championship. While it shared some of the themes of Gent's 1973 novel, ''North Dallas Forty'', ''The Franchise'' adds political corruption and murder. ''The Franchise'' is an American reality- documentary television show that debuted on July 13, 2011, on the Showtime television network. The series follows Major League Baseball (MLB) teams before and during the baseball season. The first season of the show followed the San Francisco Giants as they defended their World Series title during the 2011 Major League Baseball season. The series focused mostly on the players themselves and followed their lives on and off the field. The players featured included Matt Cain, Barry Zito, Pablo Sandoval, Brian Wilson, Buster Posey, and Ryan Vogelsong. ''The Franchise'' provides a rare inside view into a Major League clubhouse, showing the ups and downs of a long and trying professional baseball season. WFNZ (610 AM broadcasting, AM), known on air as "102.5 The Block", is a commercial radio station in Charlotte, North Carolina. Owned by Urban One, the station airs an urban contemporary radio format. WFNZ previously offered local sports hosts weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. On nights and weekends, it carried programming from CBS Sports Radio. WFNZ served as the flagship (broadcasting), flagship station for the NBA'S Charlotte Hornets and Major League Soccer's Charlotte FC. George Thomas Seaver (November 17, 1944 – August 31, 2020), nicknamed "Tom Terrific" and "the Franchise", was an American professional baseball pitcher who played 20 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). Emil David Reutimann (born March 2, 1970) is an American professional stock car racing crew chief and former driver. A native of Zephyrhills, Florida, he has competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and Camping World Truck Series. In 2004, he won NASCAR Rookie of the Year honors in the Craftsman Truck Series. He is the son of Buzzie Reutimann. He began his racing career in dirt-track modifieds and late models.
