The Fosters (British TV Series)
''The Fosters'' is a British television programme, produced by London Weekend Television, which aired on ITV (TV network), ITV from 9 April 1976 until 9 July 1977. It was created and developed by Jon Watkins, who adapted the American sitcom ''Good Times'' created by Eric Monte and Mike Evans (actor), Mike Evans, and developed by Norman Lear. It was one of the first British television programmes to have an entirely Black British, black cast, and was a predecessor to future series such as ''The Real McCoy (TV series), The Real McCoy'', ''No Problem! (TV series), No Problem!'', ''Desmond's'' and ''The Lenny Henry Show'' (and its subsequent incarnations). ''The Lenny Henry Show'' is a comedy sketch show (and in its 1987–1988 incarnation, a sitcom) featuring Lenny Henry. It was originally broadcast between 1984 and 1988, and was later revived twice, in 1995 and 2004–2005. History Original version (1984–1985) The original version of the show ran for two series on BBC 1 in 1984 and 1985. Each series had six episodes. A 40-minute special was aired in December 1987. Recurring guests include Nicholas Lyndhurst (3 episodes) and Robbie Coltrane (2 episodes). Bands featured on the 1984 series included Musical Youth and Second Image. Background After single-play anthology series went off the air, the BBC introduced several showcases for made-for-television, feature length filmed dramas, including ''ScreenPlay''. Writer Jimmy McGovern was hired by producer George Faber to pen a series five episode based upon the Merseyside needle exchange programme of the 1980s. James Carter Walker Jr. (born June 25, 1947) is an American actor and comedian. Walker portrayed James Evans Jr. ("J.J."), the older son of Florida and James Evans Sr., on the CBS television series ''Good Times'', which ran from 1974 to 1979, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1975 and 1976 for his role.
