The Five Thirty Show
''The Five Thirty Show'' is a Scottish topical magazine show, which began broadcasting in Northern and Central Scotland on STV on Monday 28 January 2008. The programme was aired live from STV's Pacific Quay studios in Glasgow, with live link-ups to other parts of Scotland often featuring. In May 2009, it was revealed that the programme would be axed and replaced by a new hour-long format entitled '' The Hour''. The last regular edition of the programme aired on Friday 15 May 2009 and concluded with co-host Rachel McTavish's departure from STV. The final live programme was followed by a week of compilation specials. Format The show was originally intended to report on the top stories of the day from across STV's Northern and Central regions in a more relaxed style to its sister shows, ''Scotland Today'' and ''North Tonight'' (now known as '' STV News at Six''). Lifestyle is the interests, opinions, behaviours, and behavioural orientations of an individual, group, or culture. The term was introduced by Austrian psychologist Alfred Adler in his 1929 book, ''The Case of Miss R.'', with the meaning of "a person's basic character as established early in childhood". North Tonight
''North Tonight'' is a Scottish nightly regional news programme covering the North of Scotland, produced by STV North (formerly Grampian Television). History During the late 1960s and 1970s, Grampian's regional news service consisted of daily 10-minute evening bulletins. By 1978, the bulletins had developed into a magazine programme entitled ''Grampian Today'', initially broadcast from Wednesday - Friday before expanding to every weeknight. The programme was relaunched as ''North Tonight'' on Monday 7 January 1980 in an effort to reflect the Northern Scotland region as a whole - its first presenters were John Duncanson and Selina Scott. Seán Batty
Seán Batty (born 6 May 1982) is a meteorologist, currently working for STV (TV channel), STV. Before this he was a Broadcast Assistant at the BBC Weather Centre and occasionally presented forecasts in BBC regions. Early life Born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Paisley, he attended Castlehead High School and studied meteorology at the University of Reading. His interest in meteorology began when he was only seven years old, after receiving a BBC weather kit for his birthday. Batty became the weather forecaster for the school newspaper as well as the regional newspaper, the ''Paisley Daily Express'', for a few months during the summer of 1996. Career Batty joined the Met Office as a weather observer at the School of Army Aviation at Middle Wallop airbase near Andover, Hampshire. Grant Lauchlan
Grant Lauchlan is best known for his work as a Scottish entertainment journalist, producer and film reporter for STV in Scotland. He studied journalism, politics and film & media at Stirling University. After graduating he worked as a news reporter for Radio Clyde. In 1998, Lauchlan started working as an assistant producer for STV's digital channel S2. In 2000, he began working for ''Scotland Today'' as a film reporter. Natasha Stillwell is an English television reporter and producer, known in Canada for the television show ''Daily Planet'', on Discovery Channel Canada and in Northern and Central Scotland for her reporting role on STV’s ''The Five Thirty Show''. Originally from Hertfordshire, Natasha grew up in Edinburgh, she was a weather girl on the city’s now defunct LIVE! station. Gerry McCulloch is a Scottish television presenter, sports reporter and football commentator. ''Scotland Today'' is a Scottish regional news programme covering Central Scotland, produced by STV Central (formerly Scottish Television). Despite its name suggesting a national remit, the programme was actually limited to stories around STV's Central Belt franchise. ''North Tonight'' covered STV's North Scotland region (from North Fife upwards), until both programmes were renamed '' STV News at Six'' in March 2009.
