''Forefather'' is an English folk metal band from Surrey. They also incorporate elements of Viking metal and black metal. Since inception in 1997 the band has released seven studio albums. History ''Forefather'' was formed in September 1997 by brothers Wulfstan and Athelstan. Two years later ''Forefather'' released its first album, ''Deep Into Time'', on the band's own label, ''Angelisc Enterprises'', on which two more albums would be released by the band, ''The Fighting Man'' and ''Engla Tocyme'', in 2000 and 2002, respectively. Black Metal
Black metal is an extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Pagan Metal
Pagan metal is a genre of heavy metal music which fuses extreme metal with " the pre-Christian traditions of a specific culture or region" through thematic concept, rustic melodies, unusual instruments or archaic languages, Wiederhorn 2009, p. 62. usually referring to folk metal or black metal. The Norwegian band In the Woods... was one of the first bands commonly viewed as pagan metal.
