''The Fan'' is an Australian sports television series first aired on Fox League in 2018. The show is on Tuesday nights at 7:30pm. Presenters * Andrew Voss (2018–) * Lara Pitt (2020–) History ''The Fan'' began in 2018 as a show designed to present the sport through the eyes of Andrew Voss, a famous rugby league commentator and personality. The show regularly hosts former and current players as well as other personalities throughout the sport. Andrew Voss
Andrew Voss (born 7 September 1966) is an Australian rugby league commentator and radio and television personality who works for Fox League. Voss previously worked for the SKY Network Television as a commentator, and at the Nine Network, including ''Today'', ''NRL Footy Show'', '' The Sunday Footy Show'' and ''The Sunday Roast''. Career In the 1990s and 2000s, Voss hosted several of the Nine Network's rugby league-related TV shows. He began appearing on '' The Footy Show'' in 1997 as a regular guest, starring in different sketches and in group discussions. In time, he was the Nine's Network's number-two rugby league caller behind Ray Warren. In 2012, he was demoted to the number-three caller behind Ray Hadley. This occurred after Hadley strongly and personally criticised Voss for jokingly questioning on-air the likeness of a statue of Warren erected in Warren's hometown of Junee, New South Wales. Lara Pitt
Lara Pitt (born 11 November 1981) is an Australian television presenter and sports journalist, mainly known for reporting for Fox Sports on their NRL coverage and Monday Night with Matty Johns. Early life Pitt completed a Bachelor of Commerce Marketing & Tourism Management degree at the University of New South Wales and a Business Diploma in Event Management at University of Technology Sydney. Following these undergraduate degrees Pitt also completed a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism whilst working full-time. Career Pitt began her career at Fox in 2006, and joined Fox Sports News in 2007. Pitt was a regular contributor to Fox Sports A-League coverage in 2010 as a reporter. During her time on Fox, Pitt worked on NRL Super Saturday, NRL Tonight and Monday Night with Matty Johns. Currently, she is on the weekly League Life panel, is a part of Fox League's weekly podcast, along with Matthew Russell and Warren Smith and relieves on the Sunday Ticket. SDTV
Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. 1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. Dolby Digital, originally synonymous with Dolby AC-3, is the name for what has now become a family of audio compression technologies developed by Dolby Laboratories. Fox League
Fox League is an Australian subscription television channel dedicated to screening rugby league (both domestic and international) matches and related programming. It is owned by Fox Sports Pty Limited and is available throughout Australia on Foxtel. The channel was launched on 27 February 2017. History On 27 November 2015, the Australian Rugby League Commission announced that Fox Sports had secured the rights to air all National Rugby League games excluding the NRL Grand Final live for the 2018-22 seasons.
