The Eloquent Peasant (film)
''Al Fallah al Fasih'' ( ar, الفلاح الفصيح translit. Al-Fallah al-Fasih) ''The Eloquent Peasant'' is a 1970 Egyptian short film, based on the tale of The Eloquent Peasant dates to the Middle Kingdom (c. 2040 – 1782 BCE). It has been presented for the first time at the 31st Venice International Film Festival. It is a short film written and directed by Shadi Abdel Salam. Plot The peasant Khun-anup tricked by the unscrupulous Nemtynakht, is forced to rely on his own eloquence to convince lord Rensi's lands about his needs of justice. Shadi Abdel Salam
Shadi Abdel Salam ( ar, شادي عبد السلام, Shādī ʿAbd al-Salām) was an Egyptian film director, screenwriter and costume and set designer. Early life and education Born in Alexandria on 15 March 1930, Shadi graduated from Victoria College, Alexandria, 1948, and then moved to England to study theater arts from 1949 to 1950. He then joined faculty of fine arts in Cairo where he graduated as an architect in 1955. He worked as assistant to the artistic architect, Ramsis W. Wassef, 1957, and designed the decorations and costumes of some of the most famous historical Egyptian films among which are; '' Wa Islamah'', '' Maww’ed fil Bourg'', ''Al Nasser Salah Ad-Din'', ''Almaz wa Abdu El Hamouly''. He worked as a historical consultant and supervisor of the decoration, costumes and accessories sections of the Polish film, ''Pharaoh'', directed by Jerzy Kawalerowicz. Ahmed Marei (actor)
Ahmed Mohamed Marei (Arabic: أحمد مرعي; born 5 January 1959) is an Egyptian professional basketball coach and former player, currently serving as the head coach for Zamalek SC of the Egyptian Basketball Super League (EBSL). Previously he has also been the head coach of Al Ittihad Alexandria and the Egyptian national team. Playing career He played for Egypt’s national team in 1984 when he was a part of the team at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Coaching career Marei coached Al Ittihad Alexandria from 2019 to 2022 and helped the team win the Super League in 2020 and reach the finals in the next two seasons. He also won the Egypt Basketball Cup in 2020 and 2021. In May 2022, Marei signed to become the head coach of Zamalek. Marei took over as head coach of Al Morog in Lybia in April 2022. ''The Eloquent Peasant'' (, "a peasant good of speech") is an Ancient Egyptian story that was composed around 1850 BCE during the time of the Middle Kingdom in Egypt. It is one of the longest Egyptian tales that has survived completed. The tale is about a peasant, Khun-Anup, who stumbles upon the property of the high steward, the noble Rensi son of Meru, guarded by its harsh overseer, Nemtynakht. It is set in the Ninth or Tenth Dynasty around Herakleopolis. This tale is described as an elaborate reflection on the connection – or disconnection – of ethical order and refined speech, as transliterated into refined writing. Story summary The story begins with a poor peasant, Khun-Anup, traveling to market with his donkeys heavily laden with goods to exchange for supplies for his family.
