Florin Curta (born January 15, 1965) is a Romanian-born American archaeologist and historian who is a Professor of Medieval History and Archaeology at the University of Florida. Biography Curta works in the field of the Balkan history and is a Professor of Medieval History and Archaeology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Curta's first book, ''The Making of the Slavs. History and Archaeology of the Lower Danube Region, A.D. 500–700'', was named a 2002 Choice Outstanding Academic Title and won the Herbert Baxter Adams Award of the American Historical Association in 2003. Nicholas Doumanis is a historian of Europe and the Mediterranean world. Born in Australia in 1964, he studied at the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales, where he acquired his PhD. Nicholas is currently a Professor of History and the Illinois Chair in Hellenic Studies at the University of Illinois Chicago. He was formerly an Associate Professor of History at the University of New South Wales, and has lectured in European history at Macquarie University and the University of Newcastle. Joseph Gilbert (J.G.) Manning (born May 1959) is a professor of History at Yale University. Manning holds the William K. and Marilyn M. Simpson Chair in History & in Classics. He is a Senior Research Scholar at Yale Law School, and a Professor (by courtesy) in the School of the Environment at Yale. Manning is a specialist in the history of the Mediterranean world in the Hellenistic period with particular focus on the legal and economic history of Ptolemaic Egypt. Social History
Social history, often called the new social history, is a field of history that looks at the lived experience of the past. In its "golden age" it was a major growth field in the 1960s and 1970s among scholars, and still is well represented in history departments in Britain, Canada, France, Germany, and the United States.
