Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Critics disagree over the utility of the term "sitcom" in classifying shows that have come into existence since the turn of the century. Buster Merryfield
Harry "Buster" Merryfield (27 November 1920England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1916–2007 – 23 June 1999) was an English actor best known for starring as Uncle Albert in the BBC comedy ''Only Fools and Horses''. Early life Merryfield was born and raised in Battersea, London, England. His father, also called Harry Merryfield, was a fitter, and his mother Lily (née Stone), was a part-time waitress. His sister Irene died when she was eight years old. He was given the name "Buster" by his grandfather, as he weighed nine pounds at birth, and it stuck throughout his entire life, not least because he refused to divulge his real name to anyone during his lifetime and it only became open knowledge after his death. Kenneth MacDonald (English Actor)
Kenneth MacDonald (20 November 1950 – 6 August 2001) was an English actor who was best known for the parts of Gunner Nobby Clark in '' It Ain't Half Hot Mum'' and Mike Fisher in ''Only Fools and Horses''. Personal life MacDonald was born in Manchester, the son of Scottish heavyweight wrestling champion Bill MacDonald, who died of kidney failure at the age of 43 when Kenneth was 13. Mike Fisher (Only Fools And Horses)
Michael David Fisher (born 12 December 1950 in Acton) is a fictional character in the BBC sitcom ''Only Fools and Horses''. He was publican of the Nag's Head, the fictional Peckham pub that frequently serves as a setting in the show. Mike was portrayed by Kenneth MacDonald, and appeared in the show from 1983 to 1996. Mike first appeared in ''Only Fools and Horses'' in the episode, ''Who's a Pretty Boy?'', in which Del ingratiated himself with the new landlord by agreeing to a deal which would see Mike accept Del's £2,000 offer to re-decorate the pub, leaving them with £500 apiece and using the remaining £1,000 to pay Brendan O'Shaughnessy. With many scenes in subsequent episodes set in the Nag's Head, Mike became a regular character. Paul Barber (actor)
Paul Barber (born 18 March 1951) is an English actor from Liverpool. In a career spanning more than 45 years, he is best known for playing Denzil in ''Only Fools and Horses'' and Horse in ''The Full Monty''. Early life Barber was taken into care at the age of seven, following the death of his mother from tuberculosis. His mother was from Middlesbrough. His father, a Sierra Leone Creole, died when Paul (or Paddy as he was then known) and his brothers Brian, Paul, Mike and sisters Claudette and Lorraine were very young. Whilst he was in care, he was abused both physically and mentally. He notes that he has suffered like others, but channelled his emotions into acting. Denzil Tulser
Denzil Tulser (born 8 August 1948), is a character in the popular BBC sitcom ''Only Fools and Horses'' played by Paul Barber. Denzil is a long-distance lorry driver originating from Liverpool, a good friend of Derek Trotter and one of Del's frequent victims when it comes to dubious antics. In the 1983 episode "Who's A Pretty Boy?", Denzil's wife Corinne saw through Del and stated that whenever Denzil and Del got together, Denzil ended up drunk or out of pocket, to which Denzil protests; "Yeah I know, but he's a mate." Del earned Corinne's hatred by ruining her wedding day food after his fridge broke down, leaving the guests eating pie and chips and Corinne and Denzil cutting a jam sponge instead of their wedding cake. Roger Lloyd-Pack
Roger Anthony Lloyd-Pack (8 February 1944 – 16 January 2014) was an English actor. He is best known for playing Trigger in ''Only Fools and Horses'' from 1981 to 2003, and Owen Newitt in '' The Vicar of Dibley'' from 1994 to 2007. He later starred as Tom in ''The Old Guys'' with Clive Swift. Colin Ball, more commonly known as Trigger (born 22 April 1948), is a fictional character in the BBC sitcom ''Only Fools and Horses'' and its prequel ''Rock & Chips''. John Challis
John Spurley Challis (16 August 1942 – 19 September 2021) was an English actor. He had an extensive theatre and television career but is best known for portraying Terrance Aubrey "Boycie" Boyce in the long-running BBC Television sitcom ''Only Fools and Horses'' (1981–2003) and its sequel/spin-off ''The Green Green Grass'' (2005–2009), as well as Monty Staines from the seventh series onwards in the ITV sitcom ''Benidorm'' (2015–2018). Boycie
Terrance Aubrey "Boycie" Boyce (born 31 January 1948) is a fictional character in the BBC sitcom ''Only Fools and Horses'', played by John Challis. His story is continued in the spin-off series '' The Green Green Grass'' in which Boycie and his family flee to the countryside to escape from the Driscoll Brothers. A younger Boycie also appears in the prequel series '' Rock & Chips''. Along with Denzil, he is one of only two characters to appear in all three.
