''The Criminals'' is a 1962 Australian TV movie. Australian TV drama was relatively rare at the time. Plot In London, a cracksman helps people in a firm help him with a robbery. Four men people are trapped after a robbery. Cast *Ken Goodlet as Dorell *Alexander Archdale as Crawford *Richard Davies *Lou Vernon as the nightwatchman Production It was Henri Safran's last play before he left for a six-month overseas tour. The production was shot in Sydney. Reception The ''Bulletin'' said it was "no ''Rififi'' but it was fairly good television drama, with a solid performance by Ken Goodlet." Henri Safran
Henri Safran (born 7 October 1932) is a Paris-born director who worked extensively in Australia. He worked in French television, then in Britain, before moving to Australia in 1960 to work with the ABC. He became an Australian citizen in 1963 but returned to England in 1966 to work on British television. Alexander Mervyn Archdale (26 November 190513 May 1986) was a British actor, manager and theatre producer. He had a very long career in both the theatre and in film, stretching from the 1930s to the 1980s. He spent the latter part of his life and career in Australia. Biography He was born Alexander Mervyn Archdale in Jhansi, United Provinces of Agra and Oudh, British India , to British parents Theodore Montgomery Archdale and Helen Alexandra Russell His younger sister was the educationalist and cricketer Betty Archdale.
