''The Criminals'' is a 1962 Australian TV movie. Australian TV drama was relatively rare at the time. Plot In London, a cracksman helps people in a firm help him with a robbery. Four men people are trapped after a robbery. The production was shot in Sydney. Reception The ''Bulletin'' said it was "no ''Rififi'' but it was fairly good television drama, with a solid performance by Ken Goodlet." Henri Safran
Henri Safran (born 7 October 1932) is a Paris-born director who worked extensively in Australia. He worked in French television, then in Britain, before moving to Australia in 1960 to work with the ABC. He became an Australian citizen in 1963 but returned to England in 1966 to work on British television. Alexander Mervyn Archdale (26 November 190513 May 1986) was a British actor, manager and theatre producer. He had a very long career in both the theatre and in film, stretching from the 1930s to the 1980s. He spent the latter part of his life and career in Australia. Biography He was born Alexander Mervyn Archdale in Jhansi, United Provinces of Agra and Oudh, British India , to British parents Theodore Montgomery Archdale and Helen Alexandra Russell His younger sister was the educationalist and cricketer Betty Archdale. In 1934 he was in a Broadway production of ''The Wind and the Rain'' at the Ritz Theater (Newburgh, New York), Ritz Theatre, New York City. ''Rififi'' (french: Du rififi chez les hommes) is a 1955 French crime film adaptation of Auguste Le Breton's novel of the same name. Directed by American Hollywood blacklist, blacklisted filmmaker Jules Dassin, the film stars Jean Servais as the aging gangster Tony "le Stéphanois", Carl Möhner as Jo "le Suédois", Robert Manuel (actor), Robert Manuel as Mario Farrati, and Jules Dassin as César "le Milanais".
