''The Complete Master Works 2'' is a video album by American comedy rock band Tenacious D. Released on November 4, 2008, it features footage from the band's performances at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Washington on February 16 and 17, 2007, during ''The Pick of Destiny Tour''. The release also features numerous bonus videos and '' D Tour: A Tenacious Documentary''. It is the successor to the band's previous collection ''The Complete Master Works''. A notable mistake on the DVD case states that the footage of the Seattle performances was recorded at the Moore Theatre. The band would go on to perform at the Moore Theatre over ten years later in December 2018, as part of their ''Post-Apocalypto Tour''. Tenacious D
Tenacious D is an American comedy rock duo formed in Los Angeles, California in 1994. It was founded by actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass, who were members of The Actors' Gang theater company at the time. The duo's name is derived from "tenacious defense", a phrase used by NBA basketball sportscasters Walt Frazier and Marv Albert. Prior to the release of Tenacious D's 2001 debut album ''Tenacious D'', the duo had a three-episode TV series released on HBO, with the episodes broadcasting between 1997 and 2000. This series came about after the band had met David Cross on the Los Angeles music scene—and Black featuring in episodes of ''Mr. Show with Bob and David''. The band also befriended former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, which began a working relationship between Foo Fighters and Tenacious D. Tribute (song)
"Tribute" is the debut single of American comedy rock duo Tenacious D, from their self-titled debut album (2001). It was released on February 11, 2002, in the United States and June 24, 2002, in Australia. The song is a tribute to what Kyle Gass and Jack Black refer to as "The Best Song in the World" (often confused as the song's title). Upon its release, "Tribute" failed to make a commercial impact in the United States, but it became a hit in Australia and New Zealand, peaking at number four on the Australian Singles Chart and number nine on the New Zealand Singles Chart. In Europe, the single charted in the Netherlands, reaching number 25 on the Dutch Top 40, and in the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number 84 in May 2012. Kyle Gass
Kyle Richard Gass (born July 14, 1960) is an American musician, comedian and actor best known for co-founding—and being a member of—Tenacious D, a Grammy-winning comedy band. He also co-founded the bands Trainwreck and the Kyle Gass Band, with which he also performs. Early life Gass was born in Walnut Creek, California, and has two brothers. He attended Las Lomas High School, where he played flute in the marching band, graduating in 1978. He studied acting at UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, where he met Tim Robbins. In 1982, he joined Robbins' The Actors' Gang and in the early 1990s met and befriended Jack Black in the group. ''The Pick of Destiny'' is the second studio album by American comedy rock band Tenacious D, the soundtrack for their feature film of the same name. The album was released on November 14, 2006, through Epic Records, and debuted at number 8 on the ''Billboard'' 200. ''The Pick of Destiny'' is the band's first studio release in five years, following up their self-titled debut album in 2001. ''Tenacious D: Time Fixers'' is a short film that was used as a promotional tool on the iTunes website. The film stars Tenacious D as well as Michael Keaton and longtime collaborators JR Reed and Paul F. Tompkins. The first half of the film was available as a free download on iTunes, while the second half could only be accessed after pre-ordering the album ''The Pick of Destiny''. The film can also be found on YouTube, as well as the second disk of ''The Complete Masterworks Part 2''.
