The Canadian Conspiracy
''The Canadian Conspiracy'' is a 1985 HBO/Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC mockumentary, co-written and directed by Robert Boyd (director), Robert Boyd, about the way the Government of Canada is subverting the United States by taking over its entertainment industry. The film features many Canadians famous in the US who do not emphasize their Canadian origins being hounded by ANN (American News Network) reporters about the Canadian conspiracy. The story is about celebrities who were born Canadian and are now American citizens who made it successful in American showbiz, and a conspiracy about Leslie Nielsen's brother Erik Nielsen, Erik, then Deputy Prime Minister of Canada. Mockumentary
A mockumentary (a blend of ''mock'' and ''documentary''), fake documentary or docu-comedy is a type of film or television show depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary. These productions are often used to analyze or comment on current events and issues by using a fictional setting, or to parody the documentary form itself. While mockumentaries are usually comedic, pseudo-documentaries are their dramatic equivalents. However, pseudo-documentary should not be confused with docudrama, a fictional genre in which dramatic techniques are combined with documentary elements to depict real events. Also, docudrama is different from docufiction, a genre in which documentaries are contaminated with fictional elements.
