The Canada Party
The Canada Party is a political satire group devoted to electing Canada as President of the United States. Founded in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2012, the organization produces and shares a variety of satirical media, including videos, posters, memes, and various campaign material. In 2012, they published the Canadian bestseller ''America, But Better''. Critical reception The Canada Party's inaugural video has received more than one million views and was described by ''George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight'' as "one of the top political ads of the 2012 election." Subsequent videos have tallied more than 80 million additional views. The 2012 campaign was featured by outlets such as CNN, CBC, BBC, the Rush, and German State Television. Satire
Satire is a genre of the visual, literary, and performing arts, usually in the form of fiction and less frequently non-fiction, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, often with the intent of shaming or exposing the perceived flaws of individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement. Although satire is usually meant to be humorous, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using wit to draw attention to both particular and wider issues in society. The ''Times Colonist'' is an English-language daily newspaper in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It was formed by the Sept. 2, 1980 merger of the ''Victoria Daily Times'', established in 1884, and the ''British Colonist'' (later the ''Daily Colonist''), established in 1858 by Amor De Cosmos who was later British Columbia's second Premier.
