The album was recorded in London with producer Dan Grech-Marguerat. Lead single "The End" was released on 18 October 2013, with its music video uploaded on the group's official YouTube channel on 14 November. Before cancellation, the show was conceived so that each season would follow a different crisis somewhere in the world involving the same main characters. The pilot episode was written by the Benabib brothers and directed by Jay Roach. The series premiered on June 21, 2015 on the American cable television network HBO. Alternative 4 is a band formed by Duncan Patterson, known for his work with Antimatter (band), Antimatter, Íon, and Anathema (band), Anathema. The band's name is taken from the Anathema album ''Alternative 4 (album), Alternative 4'', an album written largely by Patterson, whose title in turn derives from the Leslie Watkins book ''Alternative 3#Books, Alternative 3''. Label Alternative 4 signed to Avantgarde Music in 2011 with the debut album ''The Brink'' released in late 2011.
