The Block (season 9)
The ninth season of Australian reality television series '' The Block'', titled ''The Block: Glasshouse'', premiered on Sunday, 27 July 2014 at 6:30pm on the Nine Network. Scott Cam (host) and Shelley Craft (Challenge Master) returned from the previous season, as did the three judges: Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer. It is the second season to have five couples appear on the show, instead of four. The Glasshouse building is at 121-127 High Street Prahran, Melbourne. The building is double the size of the previous season's building, Dux House, and was the biggest block to date. For a first in any block season, not only do the judges vote on the contestants rooms, but the contestants judge each other's rooms. Shannon and Simon Vos were the eventual winners of the show with a $335,000 profit on a sale price of $1.9 million plus an additional $100,000 bonus prize. Nine Network
The Nine Network (stylised 9Network, commonly known as Channel Nine or simply Nine) is an Australian commercial free-to-air television network. The Gold Coast is a coastal city in the state of Queensland, Australia, approximately south-southeast of the centre of the state capital Brisbane. OzTAM
OzTAM is an Australian audience measurement research firm that collects and markets television ratings data. It is jointly owned by the Seven Network, the Nine Network and Network Ten, and is the official source of television ratings data for all metropolitan television in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth as well as subscription services (such as Foxtel) on a national basis. OzTAM was created in 1999 after the Seven and Ten Networks led a call for a re-tendering of the contract to provide audience ratings. Executives from both networks were concerned that the previous ratings service did not accurately reflect viewing levels for their channels. Prior to OzTAM, the dominant metropolitan ratings company was Nielsen Media Research. The two companies competed for a short time, before Nielsen pulled out. Coffs Harbour is a city on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, north of Sydney, and south of Brisbane. Scott Cam (host) and Shelley Craft (Challenge Master) returned from the previous season, as did the three judges: Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer. Production for the series in Melbourne, which was the location for the previous season, in the suburb of Albert Park. Steve & Chantelle were the eventual winners of The Block with a $636,000 profit on a sale price of $2,470,000 plus an additional $100,000 bonus for winning The Block. Prahran (), also pronounced colloquially as Pran, is an inner suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 5 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Stonnington local government area. Shaynna Blaze
Shaynna Blaze (born April 1965) is an Australian interior designer, television personality, writer and former singer. She is best known for her work as a co-host on ''Selling Houses Australia'' (2008–2020) and a judge on '' The Block'' (2012–present). In 2021 she won Celebrity Apprentice Australia. Early life Born in Melbourne, Australia, Blaze credits her parents, Basil and Annette, as her inspiration. Blaze became interested in interior design as a teenager, and earned a degree in design after completing high school and went straight into designing commercial interiors at Reece Plumbing.
