The Best Of Times (album)
''The Best of Times'' is an album by the New York City hardcore punk band Murphy's Law, released in 1991. Production The album was produced by Fishbone's John "Norwood" and Phillip "Fish" Fisher. "Ebony and Ivory" is a cover of the Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder song. Critical reception '' The Washington Post'' opined that the "eclecticism does provide for more variegation than is common on hardcore punk albums, but the band is still most convincing on such high-speed, relatively unadorned rockers as Freaktown' and the title song." The '' Chicago Tribune'' noted that "a hearty horn section punctuates and adds a wallop to the guitar assault." The ''Deseret News'' noted the "muscular riff-rock approach." The Best Of Times (song)
"The Best of Times" is a song by American rock band Styx, released as the first single from their tenth album '' Paradise Theatre''. It reached No. 1 in Canada on the ''RPM'' national singles chart, their second chart-topper in that country, and No. 3 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 for four weeks in March and April 1981. In the UK, the song peaked at No. 42 on the UK Singles Chart. Despite the song's success, the song has not been performed live by the band since singer Dennis DeYoung was dismissed in 1999. DeYoung, however, still performs the song regularly on his solo tours. Lyrics and music The title "The Best of Times" is somewhat ironic since the lyrics often state that these are the worst of times. But the singer says that he can get consolation, since the chorus states "The best of times are when I’m alone with you.” Allmusic critic Eduardo Rivadavia described the song as having a "deliberate, marching rhythm." The basic melody line for "The Best of Times" is u ...

La Cage Aux Folles (musical)
''La Cage aux Folles'' () is a musical with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and a book by Harvey Fierstein. Based on the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret, it tells the story of a gay couple, Georges, the manager of a Saint-Tropez nightclub featuring drag entertainment, and Albin, his romantic partner and star attraction, and the farcical adventures that ensue when Georges's son, Jean-Michel, brings home his fiancée's ultra-conservative parents to meet them. ''La cage aux folles'' literally means "the cage of crazy women". However, ''folles'' is also a slang term for effeminate homosexuals (queens). Opening on Broadway in 1983 ''La Cage'' broke barriers for gay representation by becoming the first hit Broadway musical centered on a homosexual relationship. The show's Act One finale, " I Am What I Am", received praise as a "gay anthem" and has been widely recorded. The original production ran for more than four years (1,761 performances), and won six Tony Awar ...

The Best Of Times (TV Pilot)
''The Best of Times'' is a one-shot television pilot that aired as a " CBS Special Presentation" on August 29, 1983. It was originally going to be a replacement series for '' Square Pegs'', but dismal ratings for the pilot episode caused the network to not go further. The pilot was written by Bob Comfort and Rick Kellard and directed by Bill Bixby. The show was intended to be an hour-long comedy-drama set in the 1960s, with the characters progressing from high school to college. Comfort complained, "When we first took it to NBC it was in an hour format. But Brandon Tartikoff BC's 34-year-old "Child of TV" President of Entertainmentdidn't understand it. So then we took it took it to CBS and they immediately saw it as a half-hour comedy; maybe do it with three cameras on tape before a live audience. Then they said how about making it in contemporary times because CBS, at the time, was committed to doing ''Diner'', which was set in the '60s." Plot Set in suburban Indiana, the ...
