Ash (band)
Ash are a Northern Irish rock band formed in Downpatrick in 1992 by vocalist and guitarist Tim Wheeler, bassist Mark Hamilton and drummer Rick McMurray. As a three-piece, they released mini-album '' Trailer'' in 1994 and full-length album '' 1977'' in 1996. This 1996 release was named by ''NME'' as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time. After the success of their full debut the band recruited Charlotte Hatherley as a guitarist and vocalist, releasing their second record ''Nu-Clear Sounds'' in 1998. After narrowly avoiding bankruptcy, the band released ''Free All Angels'' in 2001 and a string of successful singles. The band became a three-piece again in 2006 when Hatherley left, and after five conventional albums the band released 26 singles in the ''A-Z Series'' in 2009, one every two weeks. The band have had one silver, two gold and two platinum-selling (and chart-topping) records in the United Kingdom, as well as 18 songs in the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart. They were ...

It reached 31st position in the UK Singles Chart, while doing less prominently in BBC Radio 1, where it was placed in the "C" list. The single was released in CD, 7" vinyl, and cassette. "Wildsurf" has been described by many of having a "summery" feel to it. Tim once said of it: "I was reading Jack Kerouac's 'On The Road' while we were on the road and it really inspired this song." It's about living life, burning like roman candles across the night." The song was written drawing inspiration from the styles of Nirvana and The Beach Boys. An extended version of the song was featured in the CD2 release. This one contains an additional guitar solo by Hatherley. The song can also be found on the "Intergalactic Sonic 7″s" hits collection, as well as on the "Tokyo Blitz" DVD. The track was remixed by Butch Vig for release in America. This is the only song from Nu-Cle ...

''Meltdown'' is the fourth studio album to be recorded by the Northern Irish rock band Ash. The album was released on 17 May 2004 through Infectious Records and Home Grown. Recording sessions were held at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys and at Chalice Studios, Hollywood. ''Meltdown'', which is described as a hard rock album, drew comparisons to the work of The Smashing Pumpkins and critics said the guitar work resembles that of Black Sabbath and Metallica. The album's lead single "Clones" was released in late February 2004, coinciding with a European tour and a UK club tour. The second single "Orpheus (Ash song), Orpheus" was released in May to accompany another UK tour. "Starcrossed (song) ...

The plot follows two angels (Hunter and Lindo) who are sent to Earth to help make a disgruntled kidnapper (McGregor) and his hostage (Diaz) fall in love. Plot In Heaven, angels are tasked with ensuring that mortals on Earth find love. The "Captain", Gabriel, is upset at reviewing the file of angel partners O'Reilly and Jackson, all of whose recent cases have ended in divorce or misery. The single was re-released on 2 December 2002 in CD format as a limited edition with the Raptor 12" version of "Season" as an extra B-side, as part of the promotion for the ''Intergalactic Sonic 7″s'' greatest hits collection. The song first appeared on the ''Shed'' demo tape, recorded in 1992 and again on the ''Garage Girl'' and '' Pipe Smokin' Brick'' demo-tapes. Ash were first signed when a copy of ''Garage Girl'' was given to Stephen 'Tav' Tavner, who signed them on the basis of "Jack Names the Planets". Only 2,000 copies of the single were released, and the single was recorded on a £300 budget. However, the band was unhappy with the version released on the 1994 single, and re-recorded it for their first album. The title of the track is taken from a cha ...

Starcrossed (song)
"Starcrossed" is the third single from the ''Meltdown'' album by the band Ash. It was released as a single on 19 July 2004 as a CD and a gatefold 7-inch vinyl, as well as a DVD format and various promo copies. "Starcrossed" was A-listed on BBC Radio 1 and was expected to be a major hit for the band, but it only made it to number 22 on the UK Singles Chart and number 43 in Ireland. However, the song was successful in the long run for the band and is considered one of their most popular songs. Description "Starcrossed" is Meltdown's only slow paced song, and is a power ballad "based on 'Romeo & Juliet'. I've always loved that grouping of words that Shakespeare did". (Tim, 2004). Mark has described it as: "Star-crossed - It's the big power ballad, with Tim singing about 2 lovers who are in no uncertain terms 'fucked'". The track is unusual for the band in many ways. One of the most notable ways is the fact that all the guitar work is handled by Wheeler in this video, while Hatherley ...

Orpheus (Ash Song)
"Orpheus" is the second single released in a physical format from the ''Meltdown'' album by the band Ash. It was released on 3 May 2004 and reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. It was released as a single CD (released as only 1 CD version, the first time since 1997) as a gatefold 7" vinyl, as well as on DVD format. It was nominated for the Kerrang! Award for Best Single. Inspiration and sound Orpheus was inspired by a Jack Kerouac on the road experience, similar to that of the film ''Y Tu Mama Tambien''. Wheeler has said that, "The song's sort of based on this idea of like a Mexican road song sort of thing. I wrote it after watching this Mexican movie where these two kids go on this road trip with this girl, it's a rights of passage kind of thing. So I always thought it had this Mexican flavour, in fact when we first wrote the song it was called 'Dirty Sanchez' for a while!" Additionally, it is also inspired by a screen test Tim had a couple of years ago to play the Ewan M ...

Sometimes (Ash Song)
"Sometimes" was the third single released from Northern Irish rock band Ash's third studio album, ''Free All Angels'' (2001). It was released on 9 July 2001 as two CD singles (the first of which being an enhanced CD), as a 7-inch vinyl (which was limited edition and came with a numbered picture gatefold sleeve), and a DVD single. Although "Sometimes" reached only number 21 on the UK Singles Chart, it helped contribute to increase in sales for ''Free All Angels.'' The song also reached number 41 in Ireland. "Sometimes" is a poetic love song, and is regarded as one of the stand out tracks from the album. The song originally slated to be the second single from the album, but the band opted for the heavier track "Burn Baby Burn" in its place. The song is almost always present in the live set, and is definitely a fan favourite, showing a different side to the band than that of heavier albums such as ''1977'' and ''Meltdown.'' The song can also be found on the ''Intergalactic Sonic 7†...
