The Bellbirds
The Bellbirds formed in 2009 in Auckland, New Zealand. The band consists of Sandy Mill: vocals, percussion, Victoria Kelly: vocals, piano, organ, Don McGlashan: vocals, guitar, various instruments and Sean Donnelly (also known as SJD): vocals, guitar, bass. Sean Donnelly writes most of the songs. An article in Stuff.co.nz says, "Having a bunch of songs that didn't fit into a "traditional band setting" gave birth to the Bellbirds." They played at WOMAD New Zealand, Taranaki on 13 and 14 March 2010. Victoria Kelly (New Zealand Composer)
Victoria Kelly is a New Zealand composer, arranger, and vocalist. Background Kelly studied music performance (oboe) at the University of Auckland, later focussing on composition. After finishing first equal in the University of Auckland composition prize concert, winning a TVNZ Young Achievers Award, and being awarded a professional development grant from Creative New Zealand, Kelly studied film composition at the University of Southern California. Career Kelly has composed over twenty film and television soundtracks, primarily in New Zealand. These include soundtracks for: Under the Mountain, Out of the Blue, Black Sheep, and Realiti. In 2007, she received a NZ Screen Award for her soundtrack for the television series Maddigan's Quest. Don McGlashan
Donald McGlashan (born 18 July 1959) is a New Zealand composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist who Is best known for membership in the bands Blam Blam Blam, The Front Lawn, and The Mutton Birds, before going solo. He has also composed for cinema and television. Among other instruments, McGlashan has played guitar, drums, euphonium and French horn. McGlashan has played with percussion group From Scratch, and bands The Bellbirds, The Plague, and composed pieces for New Zealand's Limbs Dance Company. His first hits were with band Blam Blam Blam in the early 1980s. He later released four albums as lead singer and writer for The Mutton Birds. SJD, or Sean James Donnelly, is a musician from Auckland, New Zealand. His music is a mix of pop-rock, soul, and electronic music. The name SJD also refers to Donnelly's touring band when not performing solo. History Donnelly has cited influences including Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), Gary Numan, the Human League and Soft Cell. SJD's debut album ''3'' was initially self-released on Swarf Records as 120 CD-Rs in 1999 before being picked up by Flavour Distribution. Taranaki
Taranaki is a region in the west of New Zealand's North Island. It is named after its main geographical feature, the stratovolcano of Mount Taranaki, also known as Mount Egmont. Neil Finn
Neil Mullane Finn (born 27 May 1958) is a New Zealand singer-songwriter and musician who is known for being a member of Crowded House, Split Enz (which he co-fronted with brother Tim), and Fleetwood Mac. Finn rose to prominence in the late 1970s with Split Enz and wrote many of the band's most successful songs, including " One Step Ahead", "History Never Repeats", " I Got You", and "Message to My Girl". After Split Enz broke up in 1984, Finn founded Crowded House with Split Enz's final drummer Paul Hester in 1985 and served as the band's lead singer.
