''The Avengers (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)'' is the film score for the Marvel Studios film '' The Avengers'' composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri. It was released by Hollywood Records on May 1, 2012. A separate soundtrack and concept album, titled ''Avengers Assemble (Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture)'', by various artists was also released on the same date. A film score is original music written specifically to accompany a film. The score comprises a number of orchestral, instrumental, or choral pieces called cues, which are timed to begin and end at specific points during the film in order to enhance the dramatic narrative and the emotional impact of the scene in question. "Live to Rise" is a song recorded by American rock band Soundgarden for the 2012 film '' The Avengers''. The song was released by Hollywood Records on April 17, 2012, as a free digital download during its first week of availability at the iTunes Store, and was later included on the film's soundtrack album, '' Avengers Assemble: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture'', released on May 1, 2012. "Live to Rise" was the first Soundgarden song to be both fully recorded and released since the band reformed in 2010, as " Black Rain" was partly recorded in the early 1990s. The single has been described as a "riff-heavy rocker" that, according to singer Chris Cornell, would "work just fine" on the band's then-upcoming album ''King Animal'', even though it did not necessarily represent the entire album's sound. Brent Stephen Smith (born January 10, 1978) is an American singer best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Shinedown. Early life Smith was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and is an only child. Career Prior to fronting the rock band Shinedown, Smith had a high school band named Blind Thought and later was the lead singer in a band called Dreve, which Atlantic Records had signed. Atlantic Records forced Brent to either find another band or lose his record deal. He then went to Los Angeles, California to record with well-known producer Desmond Child. Shortly after returning home to Knoxville, Tennessee, Atlantic dropped the band but retained Smith. He put together Shinedown shortly after. "Shoot to Thrill" is a song by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It is the second track on the 1980 album ''Back in Black''. This song is also the second track of ''AC/DC Live'' and ''AC/DC Live: 2 CD Collector's Edition'', and is included on the ''Iron Man 2'' soundtrack. Although the studio version was never released as a single, the song is a fan favourite and a staple on classic rock radio stations.
