The Albion Academy (formerly the Albion High School) is a coeducational secondary school located in Pendleton, Salford, Greater Manchester. The school was formed from the merger of The Lowry High School in Lower Broughton, and Kersal High in Kersal. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. Pendleton is a suburb and district of Salford, in the City of Salford, Greater Manchester, England, located from Manchester. The A6 dual carriageway skirts the east of the district. The Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) is a provider of secondary school leaving qualifications and further education qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Whilst the T in BTEC previously stood for Technical, according to the DFE (2016) it now stands for Technology. BTECs originated in 1984 and were awarded by Edexcel from 1996.
