''The Acoustic Album'' is a studio album by the British singer Toyah Willcox, released in 1996. It is a collection of Acoustic music, acoustic re-recordings of songs from her back catalogue. Background The material was recorded in 1994 and consisted of new, stripped-down versions of classic hits as well as lesser-known, non-single tracks from the Toyah (band), Toyah band and Willcox's solo repertoire. Some tracks feature String section, string arrangements performed by members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The material was originally conceived as part of a double album ''Toyah Classics'' which would have also comprised its 'electric' accompaniment ''Looking Back (Toyah album), Looking Back'', slated for release in March 1995. The two sets would eventually be released individually as separate albums. In 2014, ''The Acoustic Album'' was re-released by Vertical Species in digital and CD formats, with a new artwork by Alan Sawyers and photography by Dean Stockings. Track listi ...

Toyah Willcox
Toyah Ann Willcox (born 18 May 1958) is an English musician, actress, and TV presenter. In a career spanning more than 40 years, Willcox has had eight top 40 singles, released over 20 albums, written two books, appeared in over 40 stage plays and 10 feature films, and voiced and presented numerous television shows. Between 1977 and 1983, she fronted the band Toyah, before embarking on a solo career in the mid-1980s. At the 1982 BPI/Brit Awards, Toyah was nominated for British Breakthrough Act, and Best Female Solo Artist. Toyah was nominated a further two times in this category in 1983, and in 1984. Her hit singles include "It's a Mystery", " Thunder in the Mountains" and " I Want to Be Free". Childhood and early life Willcox was born on 18 May 1958 in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Her father Beric Willcox ran a successful joinery business and owned three factories.
