Thakor (Indian Title)
Thakor is a subcaste of Koli community of Gujarat. Koli forms the largest caste-cluster, comprising 24% of the total population of the state. Koli Thakors in Gujarat placed in Other Backward Class including all of the Koli Community of state during the power of former Koli chief minister Madhav Singh Solanki. Koli People
The Koli is an Indian caste found in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Odisha and Jammu and Kashmir states in India. Koli is an agriculturist caste of Gujarat but in coastal areas they also work as fishermen along with agriculture. In the beginning of 20th century, the Koli caste was recognised as a Criminal Tribe under Criminal Tribes Act by British Indian government because of their anti-social activities during World War I. The Koli caste forms the largest caste-cluster in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, comprising 24% and 30% of the total population in those states respectively. Alpesh Thakor
Alpesh Thakor is a politician from Gujarat, India. He is a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Gandhinagar South. He was earlier a member representing Radhanpur (2017–2019). Formerly associated with the Indian National Congress party, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019. He started his career as a social worker and political activist. He is a leader of the Koli community in Gujarat. He founded the ''Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor Sena'' as well as '' OBC, SC, ST Ekta Manch'' (OBC, SC, ST unity forum), a social platform to demand reservations for people of the respective communities, around which a movement took place in Gujarat shortly after the Patidar reservation agitation. Vikram Thakor is an Indian actor and musician. He has acted in several commercially successful Gujarati cinema, Gujarati films. Career Early life Vikram Thakor is a native of Fatehpura village near Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Thakor started singing and playing flute on stage at age of ten with his father Melaji Thakor, a folk and kirtan singer. Initially reluctant to enter the film industry, he debuted in ''Ek Var Piyu Ne Malva Aavje'' (2006) which was a commercial hit. Jagdish Thakor (born 1 July 1957) is an Indian National Congress politician from Gujarat, India. He was the member of 15th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Patan constituency of Gujarat. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
