Thailand National Badminton Team
The national badminton team of Thailand ( th, แบดมินตันทีมชาติไทย) represents Thailand in international Badminton competitions. It is managed by the Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT). The team took a semifinalist in the 2013, 2017 and 2019 Sudirman Cup, the best finish by any team outside the biggest Badminton country, Indonesia, South Korea, China and Denmark. Also, the team took a second-place finish in 1961 Thomas Cup by men's team and the women's team also took a second-place finish in 2018 Uber Cup. The 1997 Sudirman Cup was the fifth tournament of the World Mixed Team Badminton Championships. It was held from May 19 to May 25, 1997 in Glasgow, Scotland. Results 59 teams competed in this edition of Sudirman Cup. Nigeria, Morocco, Turkmenistan, Uganda and Zambia also entered, but ultimately did not participate. 1964 Thomas Cup
The 1964 Thomas Cup competition is an international team tournament for supremacy in men's badminton (its female counterpart is the Uber Cup). Beginning in 1948–49 it was held every three years until 1982 and thereafter it has been held every two years. Twenty-six national teams, each (except the defending champion nation) starting from one of four qualifying zones (Asia, Australasia, Europe, and Pan America), vied for the Thomas Cup during the 1963-1964 badminton season. Qualifying zone winners played-off in Tokyo, Japan for the right to face defending champion Indonesia, which was exempt from earlier ''ties'' (team matches), in a conclusive challenge round tie. 1958 Thomas Cup
The 1958 Thomas Cup competition is an international team tournament for supremacy in men's badminton (its female counterpart is the Uber Cup). Beginning in 1948–49 it was held every three years until 1982 and has been held every two years thereafter. Nineteen teams contested for the Thomas Cup during the 1957-1958 season. As defending champion Malaya (now Malaysia) was exempt until the conclusive ''tie'' (team match) called the challenge round. The other eighteen teams were divided into four qualifying zones; Asia, Australasia, Europe, and Pan America; with the winners of each intra-zone competition advancing to inter-zone competition in Singapore to determine a challenger to Malaya. The Thomas Cup, sometimes called the World Men's Team Championships, is an international badminton competition among teams representing member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body. The championships have been conducted every two years since the 1982, amended from being conducted every three years since the first tournament held in 1948–1949. The final phase of the tournament involves 12 teams competing at venues within the host nation and is played concurrently with the final phase of the world women's team championships, the Uber Cup (first held in 1956–1957). Since 1984, the two Cups have been held jointly at the various stages of play. 2021 Sudirman Cup
The 2021 Sudirman Cup (officially known as the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2021 for sponsorship reasons) was the 17th edition of the Sudirman Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the mixed national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF), since its inception in 1989. The tournament was played in Vantaa, Finland, between 26 September and 3 October 2021. China were the defending champions. They successfully defended their title, lifting the trophy for a record-extending 12th time. Host city selection Originally the Badminton World Federation awarded Suzhou, China to host the tournament back in November 2018, but due to the strict restrictions from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it was too hard to conduct tournaments in China in 2021. 2015 Sudirman Cup
The 2015 Sudirman Cup was the fourteenth tournament of the Sudirman Cup. It was held in Dongguan, China. Host city selection Dongguan is the only city to submit a bid for 2015 Sudirman Cup. Badminton World Federation awarded the event to Dongguan during BWF Council Meeting in Athens, Greece. Seedings The seedings for teams competing in the tournament were released on March 5, 2015. The 2011 Sudirman Cup was the twelfth tournament of the Sudirman Cup. It was held from May 22–29, 2011 in Qingdao, China. According to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) 32 teams confirmed their participation, for the first time twelve teams competed in the elite group to battle for the title. China defeated Denmark 3–0 in the final to win the Cup for the fourth consecutive time and eight time overall. The 2005 Sudirman Cup was the 9th tournament of the World Mixed Team Badminton Championships of Sudirman Cup. It was held from May 10 to May 15, 2005 in Beijing, China. Host city selection Beijing and Glasgow submitted bids for the competition. Beijing was confirmed as the host during 2003 IBF council meeting in Eindhoven. Teams 41 teams around the world took part in this tournament. Geographically, they were 22 from Europe, 13 teams from Asia, 3 from Americas, two from Oceania and one from Africa.
