Thailand National Artist
The National Artist ( th, ศิลปินแห่งชาติ, , ) is a title given annually by the Office of the National Culture Commission of Thailand, recognizing notable Thai artists in the area of intangible cultural heritage such as literature, fine arts, visual arts, applied arts (architecture, design) and performing arts (Thai dance, international dance, puppetry, shadow play, Thai music, international music, drama and film). Since 1985, the honors have been presented on 24 February, "National Artist Day", in Thailand. The date was chosen because it is the birthdate of Buddha Loetla Nabhalai, or King Rama II, who was an artist himself. In 1986, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, an accomplished musician, photographer, and painter, was named "Supreme Artist". National artists receive 25,000 baht monthly for life unless the award is retracted. Buddha Loetla Nabhalai
Phra Phutthaloetla Naphalai ( th, พระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย, 24 February 1767 – 21 July 1824), personal name Chim ( th, ฉิม), also styled as Rama II, was the second monarch of Siam under the Chakri dynasty, ruling from 1809 to 1824. In 1809, Itsarasunthon succeeded his father Rama I, the founder of Chakri dynasty, as Loetlanaphalai the King of Siam. His reign was largely peaceful, devoid of major conflicts. His reign was known as the "Golden Age of Rattanakosin Literature" as Loetlanaphalai was patron to a number of poets in his court and the King himself was a renowned poet and artist. The most notable poet in his employ was the illustrious Sunthorn Phu, the author of ''Phra Aphai Mani''. Tuam Prasidhikul
Tuam ( ; ga, Tuaim , meaning 'mound' or 'burial-place') is a town in Ireland and the second-largest settlement in County Galway. It is west of the midlands of Ireland, about north of Galway city. Humans have lived in the area since the Bronze Age while the historic period dates from the sixth century. The town became increasingly important in the 11th and 12th centuries in political and religious aspects of Ireland. Fua Haripitak
Fua Haripitak ( th, เฟื้อ หริพิทักษ์) (22 April 1910 – October 1993) was a celebrated Thai artist. Biography Early life Fua was born on 22 April 1910 in Thonburi, the son of a court painter who had served under Phya Anusat Chitrakorn. He studied art for four years at Bangkok's Poh Chang School of Arts and Crafts before quitting after he found the teaching method too academic. Key works and development He later graduated from the School of Fine Arts (later known as Silpakorn University), a student of Silpa Bhirasri. Among his finest surviving works from that period is an oil portrait titled "My Grand Mother".The portrait can be seen . Thanphuying Paew Snidvongseni ( th, แผ้ว สนิทวงศ์เสนี; , 25 December 1903 – 24 September 2000), née Paew Suddhiburana ( th, แผ้ว สุทธิบูรณ์; ), was an expert on classical Thai dance. She was married to Prince Asdang Dejavudh. Biography Paew Suddhiburana was born on 25 December 1903. She was presented to the palace of Prince Asdang Dejavudh at the age of eight, and learned the art from royal instructors. She eventually married the prince, but the prince died young at the age of 36. Paew remarried to Mom Rajawongse Tan Snidvongs (titled Mom Snidvongseni), who was a diplomat, and she would observe the dance cultures of various countries during their frequent travels. Mom Rajawongse Kukrit Pramoj ( th, คึกฤทธิ์ ปราโมช, , ; 20 April 1911 – 9 October 1995) was a Thai politician, scholar and professor.
