Route description Spur 450 begins at a junction with SH 302/ Loop 338 in West Odessa. The highway travels in a southeast direction down Kermit Highway and enters Odessa near an intersection with FM 1882. West Odessa is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Ector County, Texas, Ector County, Texas, United States, on the west side of the city of Odessa, Texas, Odessa. Odessa is a city in and the county seat of Ector County, Texas, United States. It is located primarily in Ector County, although a small section of the city extends into Midland County. Odessa's population was 114,428 at the 2020 census, making it the 28th-most populous city in Texas; it is the principal city of the Odessa metropolitan statistical area, which includes all of Ector County. Midland–Odessa is a metropolitan area located in West Texas approximately half-way between El Paso and Fort Worth, Texas. This combined statistical area (CSA) is made up of two metropolitan statistical areas (the Midland MSA and the Odessa MSA), and comprises three counties: Martin, Midland and Ector counties. The Midland–Odessa CSA is informally known as The Petroplex. In the past, the cities of Midland and Odessa experienced a rivalry of bitter competition and political intrigue. Texas State Highway 302
State Highway 302 (SH 302) is a Texas state highway maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The route runs from U.S. Route 285 northwest of Pecos to Interstate 20 near Odessa. The route passes through Reeves, Loving, Winkler, and Ector counties. SH 302 has intersections with SH 115 and SH 18 in the Kermit area, and SH 158 east of Notrees. The route intersects Loop 338 and Spur 450 in West Odessa and then follows Loop 338 along the west side of Odessa until SH 302 terminates at I-20. SH 302 also intersects several Farm to Market Roads and an Interstate business route. SH 302 was originally designated in 1938 as a route between Kermit and Odessa, but has since incorporated the former SH 276 and a defunct Farm to Market Road to achieve its present length.
