Texas State Highway 302
State Highway 302 (SH 302) is a Texas state highway maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The route runs from U.S. Route 285 northwest of Pecos to Interstate 20 near Odessa. The route passes through Reeves, Loving, Winkler, and Ector counties. SH 302 has intersections with SH 115 and SH 18 in the Kermit area, and SH 158 east of Notrees. The route intersects Loop 338 and Spur 450 in West Odessa and then follows Loop 338 along the west side of Odessa until SH 302 terminates at I-20. SH 302 also intersects several Farm to Market Roads and an Interstate business route. SH 302 was originally designated in 1938 as a route between Kermit and Odessa, but has since incorporated the former SH 276 and a defunct Farm to Market Road to achieve its present length. Mentone, Texas
Mentone () is an unincorporated small town in, and the county seat of Loving County, Texas, United States. It had a population of 19 in 2010, almost a quarter of the county's 82 people at the time. Mentone was, until recent years, the least-populated unincorporated county seat in the United States, but lost that distinction with the 2010 census to Gann Valley, South Dakota, which had a population of 14. Mentone was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1967 as the "Smallest County Seat in Texas". History Named after Menton, France, by a French surveyor, present-day Mentone is actually the second such named community in Loving County; an earlier Mentone was founded south of the current town in 1893, but was abandoned in 1905. The Pecos River ( es, Río Pecos) originates in north-central New Mexico and flows into Texas, emptying into the Rio Grande. Its headwaters are on the eastern slope of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range in Mora County north of Pecos, New Mexico, at an elevation of over 12,000 feet (3,700 m). Orla, Texas
Orla is a town in Reeves County, Texas, United States. It lies about north of Pecos. It is believed to have two residents and has its own post office, located on U.S. Route 285. The post office was established 26 December 1906 with Joshua D. McAdams as first postmaster. History Orla was founded in 1890 and served as a section house for the newly built Pecos Valley Railroad, incorporated by John J. Hagerman, an American Industrialist, to link Eddy, New Mexico (now Carlsbad) with Pecos, Texas. Texas State Highway 276
State Highway 276 (SH 276) is a Texas state highway that runs from Rockwall east to Emory. This route was designated on July 25, 1960, between Rockwall and Quinlan, replacing FM 1143 and part of FM 35. SH 276 was extended to its current terminus on October 25, 1990, replacing most of FM 35. History SH 276 was designated on September 7, 1938, as a route between US 285 southeast of Arno and Mentone. On April 16, 1946, another section from SH 115 to what was then SH 82 (now SH 18) in Kermit was added. On August 12, 1946, that section was transferred to SH 302.
