State Highway 68 (SH 68) is a proposed State highway (US), state highway in the U.S. state of Texas. The route will run from Interstate 69C, I-69C/U.S. Route 281 in Texas, US 281 in Edinburg, Texas, Edinburg, intersecting Interstate 2, I-2/U.S. Route 83 in Texas, US 83 in Donna, Texas, Donna, to the future Texas State Highway 365, SH 365 toll road in San Juan, Texas, San Juan. Route description History The route was originally designated on August 21, 1923 to replace Texas State Highway 10, SH 10A between Stephenville, Texas, Stephenville and Dallas, Texas, Dallas. In 1932, the portion from Stephenville to Dallas was cosigned with U.S. Route 67 in Texas, US 67. Another section was designated on March 22, 1938 from Eastland, Texas, Eastland to Lingleville, Texas, Lingleville. On October 25, 1938, it was extended to Stephenville. San Juan, Texas
San Juan is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census the population was 35,294, up from 33,856 in 2010. It is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission and Reynosa–McAllen metropolitan areas. The city is known for the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle, one of the largest churches in South Texas. History The community was organized in 1909, in part, due to the efforts of John Closner. Geography San Juan is located in southern Hidalgo County at (26.192451, –98.152708), in the Rio Grande Valley region. It is bordered to the west by the city of Pharr and to the east by the city of Alamo. Unincorporated communities bordering San Juan include Lopezville to the northwest, Murillo to the north, and North Alamo to the northeast.
