Texas State Highway 315
State Highway 315 (SH 315) is a state highway in Texas that runs from Mount Enterprise northeast to Carthage. Route description SH 315 begins at a junction with US 259 in Mount Enterprise. The route travels to the northeast through eastern Rusk County, intersecting FM 95 and FM 840. Continuing to the northeast, the highway enters Panola County, in which it has junctions with FM 348, FM 1971, and FM 1970 in the community of Clayton. SH 315 then enters Carthage, where it intersects SH 149. The route travels through the western portion of Carthage before reaching its eastern terminus at Bus. US 79. Mount Enterprise, TX
Mount Enterprise is a city in Rusk County, Texas, United States. The population was 447 at the 2010 census. History The city of Mount Enterprise, located south of Henderson in rural Rusk County, was named for a small elevation near the town and for the business enterprise of the Vinzent brothers, who settled it in 1832. The town owes its existence to the presence of promising iron ore in the area. Charles Vinzent considered the "old mountain" nearby to be an "iron mountain," and he was not far off the mark; the brown, crumbly ore of the Weches formation that outcrops in the area has a better than 50 percent iron content. However, Vinzent's real enterprise came in the form of manufacturing and retailing. His factory made wagons, buggies, furniture, plows, caskets, and a patented churn. Texas State Highway 215

SH 1 State Highway 1 ran from El Paso through Dallas to Texarkana. It was the first highway designated in 1917. In 1926, the United States Highway System was designated, with US 80 colocated from El Paso to Dallas and US 67 from Dallas to Texarkana. On September 26, 1939, the dual designations were removed, leaving SH 1 only on a small stretch west of Dallas. This section was redesignated as State Loop 260 on August 20, 1952. State Highway 149 (SH 149) is a state highway that runs from Carthage to Longview in east Texas. History SH 149 was originally designated on March 19, 1930 along its current route, replacing SH 26A. On August 4, 1932, SH 149 was extended north to Daingerfield. On June 25, 1935, everything north of Longview was cancelled (this section north of Longview was intended to be cancelled on August 15, 1933), but was restored on June 16, 1936. The northern extension was transferred to SH 26 on September 26, 1939. Clayton, Texas
Clayton is an unincorporated community in Panola County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 79 in 2000. Geography Enochs is located at (32.0982190, −94.4749246). It is situated at the junction of State Highway 315 and FM 1970 in southwestern Panola County, approximately 16 miles southwest of Carthage. History The area was first settled around 1845 by Georgia native Jacob Cariker. He constructed a house two miles southwest of Reed's Settlement, one of the earliest communities in Panola County. During the 1870s, most residents from Reed's Settlement had relocated to the Cariker site. A post office was established in 1874 under the name Clayton, after Clayton, Alabama, said to have been the origin of several early settlers. Clayton had a population of 130 in 1885. Carthage is a city and the county seat of Panola County, Texas, United States. This city is situated in deep East Texas, 20 miles west of the Louisiana state line.
